That is good to hear. When we used STAMP, the French listening scores were always in the Novice range with few exceptions exceptions (we tested seniors). We have in general had more consistent results with AAPPL, except for the past 2-3 years (mainly speaking has been the issue)

The thing I struggle with is feeling that I’m doing the right thing as a teacher, then feeling crushed when I have many students with low scores. I’ve had this experience with both STAMP and AAPPL.

Thanks! I’m just shocked at how quickly my students’ speaking recordings were graded, and most were lower than expected. This made me wonder if the readers were in fact listening to all of each recording.

They will be investigating this further & will likely add something about Grammarly to their instructions. Glad they read my message! I couldn’t believe how easy it was to use & not blocked when I tested it out.

Do you know if I4 scores are derived from the Advanced prompts or the Intermediate prompts?

Here’s my question: what are raters NOT hearing that causes so few I2/I3 ratings? #langchat

(2/2) I listened to a few snippets of some of the I1s and I’m stumped. I’ve read the rubric so many times & feel that I do a pretty good job preparing them. I keep going between “it’s the test” and “I’m missing something.”

They were disappointed and discouraged by the scores, especially knowing how challenging the task was to do. (1/2)

To administrators? I hear that many teachers need to do this!

Thanks for sharing! I find the role of the teacher part particularly interesting. As we are currently experiencing a hiring crisis in our middle school (NO teachers for 200+ French students since end of December), we will need to lean into some non teacher centered methods & materials.

Looks like it may be Rosetta Stone for French. Sorry you are going through a similar challenge. 😞

It's looking more and more likely, unfortunately, that Rosetta Stone will be their teacher for the rest of the year, unless a miracle happens 😞

You must have subs in your actual classroom that actually follow your plans too! Jealous!
