Today we sampled cormorant stomachs at Lake Constance to assess their impact on #native #fish species.

Continuo à procura de contas Portuguesas, ou baseadas em Portugal, relacionadas com #ecologia e #biodiversidade.

If you hate statistics like I do, then you'll love my free lectures. Putting science before statistics, 20 lectures from basics of inference & causal modeling to multilevel models & dynamic state space models. It's all free, made with love and sympathy. 🧪 #stats www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Left the other place run by Trump's buddy? Here's a starter pack of freshwater scientists to get you started. Also, if you're a freshwater scientist and want to be added, let me know. Still space available. go.bsky.app/K5ubDhb

I'm giving bluesky a new chance in the face of the latest event with the other platform. Who is here?

One of our weird discoveries: 1st field-documented case of a zebra mussel attached to a fish (lake chub). This phoretic association could facilitate 1) within-basin spread of zebra mussels via fish migration & 2) overland transport by anglers moving baitfish. redpath-staff.mcgill.ca/ricciardi/Ri...

Hey #FieldWork people from BlueSky! I'm looking for a camera for field work. Should be tough, easy to operate and with decent macro skills. Also shouldn't break the bank. Wanna share some options?

Here are my lists, soon to become science and nature feeds. Want to be added? Which ones? Leave a comment here. I know there's already an "Ecology and Conservation" feed. I don't intend to compete. I'll be encouraging people to join and contribute to both feeds. Please share! Gracias! 😸

I did It, I finaly did it! I've used all apply functions in a line of code: Models <- c("Hydrologic", "Climatic", "Land Use", "Biotic") sapply(lapply(1:length(Models), function(y) combn(Models, y)), (function(z) apply(z, 2, paste, collapse=" + "))) %>% unlist() #rstats #RChat

Hi @friel.bsky.social can you add me to the fish list? Cheers

Hi @daryllmarie.bsky.social, can you add me to #Herps list?

For my MSc, I worked with amphibian populations of temporary ponds (TP) in Mediterranean farmland landscapes (SW Portugal). TP are declining rapidly due to agriculture pressure. Artificial water bodies do not support as many amphibian species as TP. Conservation efforts should focus on protecting TP

One of the perks of working in a fisheries research center is access to good and nicely cut #fishes. Today dinner was Pike (Esox lucius) filets with butter and cream sauce:

I am currently a PostDoc researcher at the Fisheries Research Station of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. I have a Ph.D. in Biodiversity Genetics and Evolution from the Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos (CIBIO) at the University of Porto in Portugal.
