Fund health care!

You know who else can’t afford it? Post secondary students. As their professor, and knowing how many students have Long Covid already, this REALLY concerns me. Students should have access to no cost vaccinations ON CAMPUS and be encouraged to get vaccinated.

My latest in @edmontonjournal.com . The Journal of the American Medical Association recently advised Long COVID in kids may have now surpassed asthma as the leading paediatric chronic illness. Danielle Smith's response: start charging for and limiting vaccines. edmontonjournal.com/opinion/colu...

“This bill effectively discourages ALL masking - during an airborne pandemic and with another potential pandemic looming due to continued spread of H5N1. It WILL cost lives” Bringing back an old article in light of the No Kings protester who was arrested for masking:

"And what about people who need to mask to avoid pollen, chemical scents or wildfire smoke? They won’t be able to under this new bill. Last year we saw record wildfires with many days of dangerous air quality all over Canada and the US. " No mask bans.

So sad.

Sick people don't need a parking tax. Some people have to go to hospital 5 days a week for a couple months for radiation. People in beds need visitors. Health care needs adequate funding.

Cuz she’s never had to deal with the challenges and anxiety of having a premie in hospital for 3 mos or a child newly diagnosed w/ leukemia hospitalized 6 weeks for induction chemotherapy. Imagine as a parent adding a trip to social work to ask for a parking discount as your child fights for life.

The media have been complicit with the government in covering up the threat of the ongoing Covid pandemic and the risks to the public. If they’re recommending N95s, we should pay attention. They don’t suggest masks lightly.

While everyone is at risk and should be protected from acute Covid infections and long Covid, cancer patients are particularly at risk, as some treatments can weaken the immune system, making it harder to fight Covid. #HealthCareNotHealthCareless 1/2

A severe surge in Covid cases is reported in Asian countries. "In Hong Kong, weekly cases surged over 30 times in 10 weeks. Cases also surged by nearly 30 per cent in a week in Singapore. There are also reports of significant surges in China and Thailand" www.indiatoday.in/diu/story/in...

Canada. Very High.

Very high.

We just published a new study on COVID-19 in Ontario, and it turns out, the way we measured cases may have been way off. Why? Because testing wasn’t equal across age and sex groups. That skews what we think we know. In epi-speak this is called “ascertainment bias”. Here's what we found:

Relevant in ON too with Ford monetizing the system. "Private surgical facilities in Alberta are starving the public system of staff & funding to perform priority procedures, according to a new report that concludes the province has yet to increase surgical capacity or reduce wait times as pledged."

PP’s team and trying to collude with Trump. This is crossing a line that is very unacceptable.

The “funny” part about the horrible and scary situation we’re in is that Trump might think that any rational nation (like Canada) would actually ever want to be part of the particular version of the United States that he’s busy violently making/unmaking.

Given risk of Poilievre led Govt, my husband & I are each donating as much as our budget permits. If every LPC Member donates $50 which only costs you $12.50 after '25 tax credit claimed on your '25 T1, the Liberals would raise $20 million ($50×400K members) '25 Campaign spending limit is ~$30M

Canadian COVID Forecast Mar 15-28, 2025 CANADA VERY HIGH (increasing) About 1 in every 142 people infected Compared to lowest point of pandemic in Canada: -Infections ~9X higher -Long COVID ~9X higher -Hospitalizations ~13X higher -Deaths ~11X higher

Severe. Increasing.

I decided to start a #thread 🧵 of stories about legal residents and tourists being (illegally) arrested, detained and/or deported by the Trump regime. I'll only post stories from serious sources, as rumors and conspiracies are really not needed in this authoritarian moment.
