Some in DC want to eliminate health care to pay for tax cuts for wealthy corporations. They claim cuts won't hurt working families, but the cuts are designed to do just that, by creating obstacles so steep that Missourians – including working families - lose care.

BREAKING: CBO estimates 16 million more people will be uninsured as a result of the "Big Beautiful Bill's" cuts to Medicaid and other changes to health insurance, and its failure to renew premium tax credits. That's 2.5 times Missouri's entire population. #medicaidmatters

It's clear - work requirements don't work. - People who meet the requirements lose their health coverage. - This makes it HARDER to work - And increases the cost of health care for everyone #protectMedicaid www.thebulwark.com/p/the-gops-b...

❌ Medicaid work requirements in practice: After calling it a "great program" at a press conference, a 54-year-old mechanic has been kicked off his health insurance twice, and bureaucratic red tape has him at his wit’s end. www.propublica.org/article/geor...

"Supporting paid family and sick leave is a smart investment, but also a humane one....Overturning Proposition A would be a giant step backwards in Missouri that would not only hurt our people, but also our businesses and economy." www.stltoday.com/opinion/colu...

"Cuts to SNAP would not just affect Americans enrolled in the program but would also pull the rug out from under grocers, farmers, and the broader economy." Cuts could make it hard for grocers in some areas to stay open. #handsoffSNAP www.americanprogress.org/article/snap...

1 in 3 Missouri working parents don’t get a single paid sick day. They are forced to choose between their paycheck and their family's financial stability because staying home means missing prescriptions, food, or rent. That changes today. #PropA

SNAP helps Missourians across our state meet their nutritional needs and gives an especially critical boost to our state's rural communities, accounting for over 4$ of total Gross Domestic Product in some areas. mobudget.org/snap-overvie...

This would shift $380 million in costs to MO every year, and Congress is also proposing shifting massive Medicaid costs to states. MO simply can't absorb these costs, and Missourians would see big cuts to MO HealthNet, nutrition, and other services like education. More in 🧵 below. #moleg

As Congress moves forward on its plans to cut make $880 million in Medicaid cuts, voters say #HandsOffMedicaid

At a time of great economic uncertainty, the U.S. House is moving forward with a plan that would take health care and food assistance away from Missourians - all to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. Tell Congress NO cuts to Medicaid or SNAP! mobudget.salsalabs.org/house-no-cut...

A tale of 2 competing worlds this week in #moleg: House passes $1.3 B tax cuts, Senate considers one. Meanwhile, House Budget Chair strips $$ for child care, K-12 education, and state employees because REVENUE IS NOT GROWING like it was and BUDGETING IS BECOMING TIGHTER!

@georgetownccf.bsky.social's @edwincpark.bsky.social joins @npr.org to explain how federal budget cuts will lead to millions losing Medicaid coverage. The math doesn't add up otherwise. Listen: www.npr.org/2025/03/10/1...

MO is facing a budget cliff, and Congress is considering multiple changes to Medicaid and SNAP that could cost MO hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Meanwhile, MO Senators are debating a $300 million tax giveaway. #moleg, here's who would benefit:

What services are you willing to risk in order to give tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations? #moleg

Tax changes made since 2014 will cost MO $3.2 BILLION/year when fully implemented. That's the equivalent of more than 20% of the state general revenue budget. With Congress considering passing costs to states, it's irresponsible to enact more. #moleg mobudget.org/intro-mo-sta...

As MO Senate discusses tax breaks for the wealthy, remember that most Missourians pay a higher share of their incomes in state & local taxes than those in top income brackets. But 80% of the benefit of a capital gains exemption goes to the top 5%. 2/3 goes to the top 1%! #moleg

The Missouri Senate may consider a $300M+ tax giveaway (67% of which will go to the top 1%). Meanwhile, Congress may shift major costs to states, like $75-375 million annually for food assistance alone. #moleg MO can't afford new tax cuts! www.cbpp.org/research/foo...

MO is already facing a budget cliff, and the MO Senate may vote this week on a $300 million tax giveaway that would require further cuts to critical services. The top 1% would see 2/3 of the money from the bill, while service cuts would hurt all of us. Tell your Senator MO can't afford it!
