The most remarkable thing about Clotworthy Skeffington is that he went ahead and named is first son Clotworthy Skeffington.

A Trump supporting, anti-trans, anti-gay Republican was elected commissioner of the county where I grew up. He won despite being in jail on election night for a sexual assault in Vegas. It’s now come out that the woman he assaulted was his daughter. fox59.com/news/indycri...

america hasn't truly had to deal with TB in ages. But my brother and I were raised in Central America and my brother deals with it to this day. You don't know (in a day to day way), but none of you wants a piece of this horrible disease.

Ready Fire Aim is a lousy way to govern.

If you love someone, let them know now. Even if it makes you feel like a raging moron. The whole country (world?) needs all the love you can spare right now. And frankly, planes are falling out of the sky at an alarming rate. 🤷🏼‍♀️ So there's that.

Huh. I wonder how many people in the next several years are going to have to make the choice between going completely broke themselves or watching their parents die after they've moved in because they can't afford to be both old and housed? 🤔 This is precisely how I see things going for me now.

Just realized my medication count will come up short for the travel days I'll be gone. Thought it would be easy to grab a couple extra pills, but the response has been the insurance won't pay for them if I can even get any at all. As usual, the american system of doing things is asinine.

We are completely broken to make decisions like this. We deserve the weakened science we get.

Hands down some of the best songs ever. Killing Me Softly is easily in my top 5. What a profound loss. variety.com/2025/music/n...

In a chat with a senior military official this morning I started throwing around the c word. No, not that c word, the one which rhymes with ooh. Watched his eyes bulge right out of his head. Make all the faces you want and then explain to me how this is going to end better?

I've actually lived long enough to watch my mother be told by my father that she wasn't allowed to have a driver's license or direct access to any money. I watched that BS in real time for her and so many women like her.

Just went to the white house website. I realize this is hardly the worst crime by a mile, but I was shocked to see the text is grammatically incorrect. The sentences have terrible structure. The splash page for the entire country and it reads like something put together by a middle schooler.

Woke up to 13F, gale force winds and flurries. This is NOT the Texas I signed up for. 😂

I don't know who needs to hear this. But if you find yourself needing a mental health break, I've just started acting as though this country is another planet and I'm the first earth anthropologist on it. Surprisingly effective.

It's always the sketchiest houses covered in signs for the orange one. Take back america? Hun you can't even take back your front lawn.

Today in socialism ish I'm grateful for...rumble strips on the sides of the road. Because there comes a point when maybe someone shouldn't be behind the wheel anymore, but he's not gonna listen to me and here I am being a passenger anyway. Please pray for me.

I haven't been in Arkansas a week and I'm already regularly parking on the lawn. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ya think?

Europe has a message for Elmo.

So many friends reached out to me yesterday suggesting they were struggling or even nearing the end of their mental ropes. Most work in government around DC. I'm reminded a lot lately of an article I read which suggested heavy stress is rougher on the body than cigarettes. Please take stress breaks

My aging parents moved into a new place a few months ago. I flew out to see if I could help with anything. I'm finding I'm most useful crawling around under tables and chairs picking up anything they've dropped and couldn't get on the ground to retrieve. These two need some great grandkids. 😂

Whenever I feel like everything is out of control, I figure out what I actually can control. In today's case, I'm making pasta. It's the only calm I can think of. That's a beautiful dough resting here on this table. Perfect moisture content.

How's your Valentine's Day going? My Valentines are on the other side of the planet. Meanwhile I'm trying to remove viruses from an octogenarian's computer while he keeps clicking on the viral pop-ups in front of me and giving them his passwords.

I'm shocked. Are you shocked? This is my shocked face. 🙄😑 www.npr.org/2025/02/13/g...

There's a Smithsonian gift shop at National Airport. I saw a few copies of a pocket-sized version of the Constitution there. Considered picking one up, especially since it's been battered so hard lately it's about to become a relic. The soon to be revised edition ought to be a doggone hoot.

Flying AA out of DCA this morning. Every single pilot has to taxi right past the ongoing recovery in the Potomac. Can't imagine how this must affect them.

If the US agrees to become our 11th province, we'll offer them many exciting benefits—including free Bhangra lessons for every US citizen, delivered with our signature Canadian politeness, warmth and welcoming spirit.

I had to drive towards DC today during morning commute time. Most of the traffic I saw was headed away from Washington rather than towards. It was really surreal.

Approximately 20 members of Elon Musk’s staff have begun working within the Education Department. They have gained access to multiple sensitive internal systems, including a financial aid dataset containing the personal information of millions of students enrolled in the federal student aid program.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines. The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds. It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

“Since 1980, Congress has mandated that the agency seek to broaden participation of underrepresented groups […] The NSF spokesperson did not respond to a query about concerns that Trump’s executive orders are at odds with the agency’s responsibilities, as codified in law.”

It would be nice to see mainstream media acknowledge that every alarmist in their ranks about Trump and his henchmen has been correct, and every single "Let's all calm down" guy--a posture of blasé detachment that is consistently over-rewarded in legacy media--has called it wrong from day one.

The reason why we keep ending up in horror after horror is we keep playing other men's games.

Genuine question, is the torrent of horrendous planning to level off at some point or does it keep increasing exponentially forever?

Someone I adore but don't get to spend much time with, checked in on me today. I have narrowed my focus to those who unapologetically and full-throatedly care about me and I should have done this years ago.
