There are so many excellent passages throughout Sad Grownups and this particular passage, from “Dick Cheney Was Not My Father,” is one of them @amystuber.com

I’ve been on the Split Lip team for a little over two years now (!) and it has allowed me to connect with some really wonderful people ❤️ also not for nothing but soooo many jobs now want applicants to have social media experience, this could be your chance to boost your skills!

Me to the cat I regularly cat sit (who has a perpetual blep tongue but that’s just bonus info): “excuse me but where does your dad put recycling?”

I don’t understand why HarperCollins refused to join other major publishers and sign the letter to Congress in support of IMLS. So, I wrote a letter to HarperCollins. Libraries and librarians need our support. Authors and industry professionals, please sign this letter using this form. 👇 🙏 📚

My best friend from Virginia just moved to my hometown in Maryland. I spent the weekend with her and said that of all the people we might run into, I hoped it was one of my favorite high school teachers—but I mean, what are the odds? And then, we did! Here’s to the teachers who save lives 🍻

Eleanor Fuller’s story “Little Death Born Again” draws us in with a character’s search for escape, sanctuary, ecstasy. Here she shares just one thing about the piece: buff.ly/rySezIZ

Did they think elon was competent or did they just assume—like they did with trump—that no matter how erratic and ill-prepared for the role he was, he would never do anything to actually hurt their wealth?

Everybody romanticizing about the heyday of American manufacturing needs to carefully listen to one (1) Bruce Springsteen song.

Friends, i have a wee flash in @bendinggenres.bsky.social - a hopeful response to these dire political times (food is involved). My friends who are scared, I see you. Hope you’ll read it 🧡 bendinggenres.com/intensive-ca...

NEW: ALA is going to court to stop the President’s attempts to illegally dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services. The President does not have the authority to destroy a federal agency. That's why we're taking action with our co-plaintiff @afscme.bsky.social. #ForOurLibraries (1/3)

I love a library more than almost any other place. My family moved a lot as a kid and one of the first things we’d do in a new town was get our library cards. This is a great week to harass your Congress members about protecting our libraries!!

EDITORS: There's a white cis man, Jasper Ceylon, pretending to be a host of marginalized individuals in order to get published as them. He thinks it makes him clever and is trying to prove that publications will print anything as long as it comes from a marginalized person. 1/

Some tips as someone who loves food, has a bunch of health-related food restrictions, and has been food insecure for ~3 years 1. If you can afford it, a Costco membership is the best possible investment in not starving. $5 rotisserie chicken + bulk frozen vegetables have gotten me through so much.

I have some new fiction out today with @leonliteraryreview.bsky.social inspired by growing up religious, church camp, and imagining things "Separate" leonliteraryreview.com/issue-30-suz...

The best part of adulthood is always, always using adult agency to make your inner child happy, even if you have reached the age where lactaid is a must 🍦🤓

If you have a Republican representing you in the House or Senate, call them to demand they undo Trump's tariffs. They're already shaken by the 20 point shift in Florida and the Wisconsin loss. You can fuel that feeling.

Struggling with deep panic, so to channel that productively, I'll post a reminder my partner and I just started a tiny bookstore. To be sustainable, we need to make enough to move into the building's front space to get foot traffic. ALL purchases, local or not, help a ton: eveninghousebooks.com

An irreverent — and illustrated! — riff on Mary Oliver’s iconic poem “Wild Geese.” (@miriamjayaratna.bsky.social, @amandalehr.bsky.social, Jenny Kroik)

Browser history resulting from this story: anatomy of tulips, anatomy of humans, household chemicals that are toxic when mixed

Sen. Booker just quoted the Langston Hughes poem "Let America Be America Again" "America never was America to me, And yet I swear this oath— America will be!" poets.org/poem/let-ame...

Just finished Cassandra on Netflix and it’s like the DCOM, Smart House, but all grown up. It feels relevant in the age of rampant AI chaos but doesn’t sacrifice story (or horror) to make a point. Overall review: hell yeah

Feelin' froggy, so decided to share this story that I very much love (and which my mother considers "my best") that appeared in print in Pleiades last year! FFO: UFO Catchers, 96 Geo Prizms, Love

Improve a first line by substituting Mrs. Dalloway. Once there was a girl named Mrs. Dalloway. She was like all the other girls, except for one thing. She always wore a green ribbon around her neck.

So much magic happens at AWP! Our InteR/e/views Editor @iloveyoudaniel.bsky.social asked @roxanegay.bsky.social to sign a skillet! And she did! Skillet pictured below: "To Daniel— Keep it spicy! Roxane Gay"
