I’ll keep pushing this line of analysis because I’m increasingly convinced the clearest path out of this mess is for Dems to adopt a relentless anti-corruption, anti-inequality, anti-oligarchy, pro-democracy platform. The Dem leadership hasn’t realized it yet, but they’re now a reform party.

“None of this would be happening without the U.S. Supreme Court, which loves nothing more than bolstering the power of wealthy white conservatives, as documented in a new report by @pppaction.bsky.social.” Great (read: incredibly bleak) new piece by @audrelawdamercy.bsky.social ⤵️

This is such a beautiful and sad piece. This line at the end is going to stick with me: "There's no good time to schedule fun, so you just got to commit to it." www.npr.org/2025/02/20/g...

For four years, Americans saw what it could be like to have a legal system that stands up for real people. Now, @mollycoleman.bsky.social of @peoplesparity.bsky.social outlines the work ahead to turn those four years into a movement: brandeisianbrief.substack.com/p/for-the-ne...

Hey did you know the Supreme Court helped Trump win the presidency in a lotta ways? It’s not great! Report I wrote for People’s Parity Action: peoplesparityaction.org/wp-content/u...

If it were a movie, people would roll their eyes at how overdone it was. The man who ascended to the presidency by firing people on TV is about to have the first case of his second term argued at the Supreme Court. The issue? Whether he has the 'unrestricted power' to fire his critics. (1/3)

NEW REPORT from PPPAction on how SCOTUS delivered a would-be king & a constitutional crisis, one decision at a time--and what we can do about it. @jennyhunter.bsky.social @mollycoleman.bsky.social

The top U.S. labor law enforcer is @nlrbgc.bsky.social. Biden-era GC maintained that contracts binding workers against taking their skill to competing employers are unlawful. The new NLRB General Counsel reversed this, will stop fighting such noncompete clauses. HT @mattbruenig.bsky.social

“We are alarmed how quickly the business community has given in to the current administration’s retaliatory threats. It is not ‘illegal’ for a company to create a business model based on what it believes to be important ethical and business standards.”

On the one hand, daycare is the only thing that makes it possible for me to be a parent and I am so incredibly grateful it exists. On the other hand, I am sick for the one-millionth time this year and I do wonder if possibly we should outlaw all spaces in which two or more toddlers can swap germs.

these are segregationists.

How do I become Napheesa Collier.

Trump is breaking the law to help his billionaire friends screw over working people, and the consequences are already being felt. I wrote about it for @ballsandstrikes.org.

Minnesota has been incredibly lucky to have @smith.senate.gov in the Senate. While I’m disappointed she isn’t going to run for re-election, I think and hope this means we’re going to see a lot from her in the next two years when it comes to leading the fight against Trump.

The legal left needs to get organized. I wrote for @brandeisianb.bsky.social about what that should look like.

And now is the time when we see what companies REALLY gots women’s backs,,, the world is watching 👀

🚨 🚨 New!🚨 🚨 @mollycoleman.bsky.social of @peoplesparity.bsky.social on the movement-building work ahead for progressive lawyers 👇👇 brandeisianbrief.substack.com/p/for-the-ne...

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.

I have absolutely no time for politicians who don’t respect organizing. This is, quite literally, what democracy looks like. You don’t have to agree with everything the people are demanding, but if you’re going to disparage the people doing whatever they can to fight fascism, you should resign.

Garrison McMurtrey wins the Ramsey County District 3 special election with nearly 90 percent of the vote. www.ramseycounty.us/sites/defaul...

No spoilers because I’m just now watching tonight’s games, but wow do I love this Unrivaled 1v1 tournament.

We’re out here in the snow getting out the vote for Garrison McMurtrey, our next Ramsey County Commissioner! What do we do when we start to lose hope? We organize, organize, organize!

As @schwartzesque.bsky.social writes, we have crossed a dangerous threshold, "marking the first time a judge has expressly declared that the Trump administration is disobeying a judicial mandate." Institutional checks on the president depend on a president being willing to be checked. Without that…

There’s been a lot of debate over exactly what “counts” as a constitutional crisis. Luckily, Trump is saving us from having to continue that debate!! Unfortunately, it’s because he’s taken us so far down the constitutional crisis road that there’s nothing left to debate 🙃

NEW: Despite multiple judges blocking the Trump administration's funding freeze, the administration is still totally failing to comply with court orders. We're tracking notable examples of shuttered programs and services.

At 5:30 today, I felt like I was already so behind on the day that I’d never catch up. At 6:30, I felt like I was going to crush my to-do list and have the world’s most productive week. At 7:30, my kid threw up everywhere. Wondering what 8:30 will bring on this here Monday!!!

"Rupert Murdoch is here at the game. Good to see him. We're all here because of him." Yeah Jim, I guess when you think about it. We really are *gesturing around me* 'HERE' because of him aren't we?

THE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW IS UNION MADE! Shout out to Kendrick Lamar, and all the performers and behind the scenes workers that made this go off without a hitch!

A nice write-up of last weekend’s conference. It’s still impossible to wrap my head around the fact that Kiah Duggins wasn’t there with us—a loss that loomed so large over the weekend and in the world. hlrecord.org/public-inter...

Snowy day doorknock for Garrison McMurtrey, if Leo can remember there’s an election on Tuesday then so can you!!!

I ain’t mad about it.

I feel like, given how terrible everything is, we should at least have an Unrivaled game to watch every night of the week. Is that too much to ask??

if you were an unreconstructed segregationist from jim crow alabama, what would you do differently than this administration with regard to civil rights enforcement?

They are really trying to re-segregate America.

RIGHT NOW: Large growing crowd at the Minnesota State Capitol . “This is Democracy!” “Deport Musk!”. Just heard from a woman in tears, says she’s so very nervous to be up talking, but as a covid frontline nurse she saw what happened under Trump, thanks everyone for being here.

Gupta Wessler is the best of the best, and the law is entirely on Wilcox’s side. And yet—if and when this gets to the Supreme Court, it’s almost certain they’ll side against Wilcox. The Supreme Court is not on the side of working people, and it is not going to save us from Trump’s tyranny.
