My mom's dog snuggled up to my niece's teddy bear!

You know those labour simulators they sometimes put on men so they can understand the joys of periods and/or childbirth? Sometimes I think we need a version for chronic illness. Too many people don’t “get it” until it happens to them. They’re insistent it’s our fault. We don’t try hard enough

General Tom Foolery living up to his name as he managed to get into the drop ceiling in the basement! This is his utter lack of remorse for distracting @abide42.bsky.social from work look.

I made my comment. Please make one as well!

Hi! You're seeing this because someone noticed you posting an image that doesn't contain alt text. This is not a scolding! You are loved! But everyone needs to be convinced using alt text is socially mandatory. (I sure had to be shown the way as well!) Would you mind reading this🧵 about it and why?

NIH recently found 1 in 22 ppl who’d had Covid developed ME/CFS. The “mild” form of that disease, as @julialmv.bsky.social’s graph shows, means losing capacity to do 50% of your daily activities. What would you give up? Friends? Time w/your kids? Could you cut work hours in half w/o losing yr job?

Study begun pre-COVID finds remote work increased sleep by 1/2 hr/night, decreased commute by 4.5 hr/week replaced with work, family & leisure and led to healthier eating. Remote and hybrid employees report higher job satisfaction and well-being. farmingdale-observer.com/2025/05/16/s...

The “covid is only a threat to the vulnerable” narrative primed the pump for the eugenics movement we’re seeing now. It conditioned people to see the disabled & vulnerable as acceptable losses. People who were probably going to “die anyways”. It paved the way for fascism.

Can't wait to get mine! Since I work at a library now, I couldn't pass up this sticker set!

Some so-called leftists also mocked disabled people who still took protections like masking, because to their minds, Covid was ‘over’ because they had been vaccinated. And their refusal to advocate for wfh is part of this pathological desire for normal.

If you care about what is happening to restrict healthcare to exterminate people—especially disability & trans communities—resist by protecting your community’s health. 1) Vaccinate when possible 2) Mask in public 3) Get loud re heath justice 4) Ask others to do the same Give/get mask mutual aid:

Disabled joy is an act of resistance 💗

"Filtration efficiency for the cloth mask was 47–55%, for level 1 masks 52–60%, for level 3 masks 60–77%. A non-certified KN95 look-alike, two KF94s, and three KN95s filtered 57–77%, and the N95 and CaN99 97–98% without fit testing": Via @dupuisj.bsky.social journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

Say it after me: Chat GPT is not a search engine. It does not scan the web for information, it just generates statistically likely sentences. You cannot use it a search engine, or as a substitute for searching. Now. Please never use an LLM for information searches ever again.

If you’re not fighting against mask bans because you think they “only” apply to those committing crimes… consider the following: Who decides who’s committing a crime? The police. POC who mask will be disproportionately targeted. Who decides if your medical exemption is “good enough”? Police 🧵

I don't go there anyway (for many reasons), but I think it's a good idea if people call or email!

Hi I used to work at Starbucks customer service: if you call or email about this, they are absolutely tracking those numbers, and a sufficient amount of public pushback does make them rethink shit sometimes, so now would be an EXCELLENT time to let them know they’re being ableist shitheads

Every aspect of fascism—from racism to transphobia to climate destruction—will kill or disable you. This is why we need disability justice at the center of our resistance. This is why we need to listen to and follow the lead of disabled folks. Give/get mask mutual aid, for illness and pollution:

😡

Fascism & eugenics go hand in hand Trump has mocked a disabled reporter & said his own disabled nephew should be left to die RFK Jr attacked autistics for not paying taxes Dr Oz says it’s your patriotic duty to be healthy enough to join the military No social justice without disability justice.

Birds kept hitting our windows, so I decided to try a DIY solution! I'll try to get daylight pictures tomorrow.

So excited to hear about the new graphic novels being made from Sir Terry Pratchett's books; especially the Tiffany Aching series being done by @rhi.bsky.social !

Science does not work like this. The only way you can set a timeline is if you have rigged the results in advance.

😔

Using a study design from the past, researchers again show COVID-19 is airborne. "The coronavirus evolved to stay alive in the air for quite a long time" Study: academic.oup.com/ofid/advance...

"I don't know anyone who is getting covid anymore."

Idk that I've ever seen my snake tie himself into a literal knot!

It's National Library Week, so some of us at the library I work at dressed up as our favorite illustrated characters today. I knew few would recognize me as Tiffany Aching, but I had fun with it anyway! Also, I made myself a frying pan purse!

Public health has turned into individual health. Rugged individualism at its finest. But individualism is not the prescription for good health. For a community to survive, everyone needs to thrive.

My latest @kqedarts.bsky.social story about sold-out masks-required shows sums up many of my thoughts on the ongoing pandemic's fifth anniversary. Many of us are living in the actual new normal. It's never too late to start protecting your loved ones & self again! www.kqed.org/arts/1397262...

We’ll say it again: Criminalizing masks does not make New Yorkers safer. In reality, it puts our health at risk, opens the floodgates for racist enforcement, threatens to exile some people with disabilities from society, and undermines protections for protestors.

It's clear who's the boss amongst our 3 cats: the tiniest, oldest cat. The only one with no claws and half her teeth. She rules the roost... and is the loudest!
