A man in my community planning group said that charging for parking in Balboa Park is "like a poll tax." Because free personal car storage is just as much a civil right as voting. Sigh... I need to get out of there.

Jason Heyward is so damn fine

Local news really leaving no stone unturned with the earthquake coverage lol

The California DMV routinely allows dangerous drivers with horrifying histories to continue to operate on our roadways, a CalMatters investigation has found. Too often they go on to kill. Many keep driving even after they kill. Some go on to kill again. calmatters.org/investigatio... 1/7

Again, <no one> knows the right amount of “viewpoint diversity” at universities, but it simply can’t include “all views on the political spectrum” at a serious institution, when one of our two parties traffics in complete lies & outright rejection of all empirical evidence: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Earthquake!!! That was a big shake

Just try to watch Megan Thee Stallion perform and not feel intense body dysmorphia. Impossible.

T-Pain has given us so much, but I don't think anyone expected him to bless the Coachella audience with an earnest cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"

Most Elliott just walked on the Coachella mainstage wearing a crystal encrusted bike helmet

Truth on the streets of Golden Hill

In a country where loneliness is an epidemic, freeways might contribute to fewer social conditions. Great episode unpacking an important paper adding to the huge evidence about the negative impacts of urban freeways.

Loquat lovers: now is our time!

The most common defense of the CCC is that they protect the natural environment from development and preserve our public resources from privatization. Defenders will look at these pictures and not see any of that so-called harmful development, as if 5000 sq ft mansions naturally grow on these cliffs

I did a pull up!!! Holy shit I could cry I've never done one before

it's pretty clear how much of this is about ICE failing to meet quotas and expectations

I'm planning out a Ventura-Ojai-Carpinteria weekend bike trip this month and I'm so excited :)

Bring the hammer down on 'em, HCD! The people of Encinitas think their lily white, wealthy "paradise" must be maintained exactly as it is. The state needs to remind them whose law rules.

It's Friday so you know I'm gonna post a progress pic

They won't last. Asking these people to limit their consumption is likened to an assault on their civil rights. These are the people that drive oversized killing machine trucks simply because this is America and they have the right to drive as big of a truck as they want

I say this as a generally Padres-positive person: Them having a historically great start and getting Little Brothered anyway is *hilarious*

Seems like there are hundreds of Youtubers and podcasters fully dedicated to educating and engaging folks in city/transit planning with urbanism info-tainment, yet here in San Diego, our *local public media station* is the best source of effective policy explainers and clear steps to take action

San Diego Padres I love you

My transit activity has come to represent my physical activity since my gym is my most frequent transit destination. This month I worked out enough that I earned a transit pass on the 24th and got a full free week of rides!

First time seeing SD parking enforcement ticket someone for blocking the sidewalk and bike lane! On 30th Street just south of Switzer Canyon

"California is the only state that recognizes the mall as a protest site," says @strugar.bsky.social, who once sued Rick Caruso over the Grove's draconian protest policies. At the Americana, however, the city of Glendale owns the open space at the center — ensuring the mall is a true public square

The bus is full of Padres brown and gold again and it makes me quite happy 💛🤎

I can’t stop thinking about this framing when it comes to climate. And I don’t mean “doom” as in “I feel badly about this situation,” but as in “it’s too late.” Someone responded to my post about the impact of climate activism yesterday calling it hopium. Two people who follow me liked it.

Had to try the new studio in the neighborhood. Very simple setup but the garden view is nice and the post-workout ceviche from the mariscos truck nextdoor is too good to pass up

I bike to every game and man, it feels amazing to breeze right through the gridlock and get home in less time than it takes most people just to get out of the parking garage

[BILL ALERT] AB 609 by @BuffyWicks exempts infill housing from additional review under the California Environmental Quality Act, while preserving CEQA review for planning and other processes that cities use to ensure new development complies with environmental laws. More:
