Sorting out lunch for tonight - night shift me is going to really hate post-gym food shop me. 😅

Today on misspelt clinical details…. “Hepatits?”

Deep breath, America. We can do this.

We’re f*cked, aren’t we?

Again, the World Health Organization is the single most important global entity in preventing, tracking and controlling outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics and is especially important as climate change and deforestation allow pathogens to mutate, become more infectious and spread to new regions

When the endo is angry, the only thing that’s touching it is cocodamol, and your consultant appointment has been moved yet again. -.- Woo.

💔

Woo!! Yes Sarah!! t.co/bZ77z6rr8I

You can tell it’s that weird week between Christmas and new year when lunch consists of a turkey and gammon sandwich, chunk of cheese, mince pie, skittles, and two tiny mars bars. 👍

Christmas Eve malaria training. “At 3am, when you’re super tired, platelets and staining crud are your enemy.” 🫡

It’s that time of year when the nativity goes up, and we hide baby Jesus in the succulents so we don't lose him.

So, I just had a blast through of my diploma pieces (amazingly no snivels) and, weirdly, I think that was the best I’ve played them in a long time.

The UK parliament has joined Bluesky, with proper verified domains and everything: • @houseofcommons.parliament.uk • @houseoflords.parliament.uk • @ukparliament.parliament.uk • @commonsspeaker.parliament.uk

I’ve just found out on Tuesday that my flute teacher of 24 years passed away on Saturday. It’s safe to say I’m in shock. He wasn’t just a teacher, he’d become a great friend and almost like a dad to me. As he said to me once; “how long have I known you? You’d get less for murder!”

Hm. Lots of very poorly people in today.

I think it’s safe to say those are now suitably covered in floor… It was certainly strange having to take flats to tango class, but it did mean these get a bit more use!

Good to see the Biomedical Science gang making its way across 🧪 🩸 🧫 #BMSSky

I'm sounding like a rusty squeezebox this evening! Is anyone else’s asthma being annoying? #asthma #wheezy #frustrated

Just booked tickets for a night shift recovery day trip to Hadestown! Happy happy theatre nerd. #WaitForMe

Answers bleep. “Hi, pathology. What can I do you for?” “Is blood ready for my patient?” Takes details. “Yes, I phoned it out to (insert name here) six hours ago.” “Oh…” It’s been one of those nights. 😩

PSA for clinical researchers: It is never too early to include a statistician. #MedSky #stats

Just your regular reminder that laboratory reference intervals rely on the following assumptions ✨Gaussian distribution of values ✨Healthy population ✨2.5% of population on either side is out of range Therefore they may or may not be relevant to any individual clinical decision making

In my quest to complete my biomedical science degree (and revise for my Immunology exam 😂). I’m asking for questions to test my knowledge. I may or may not know the answer but it’ll be good immunology revision. #BMSsky #biomedicalscience

“We cannot exclude the possibility of H5N1 [bird flu] triggering a human pandemic,” Dr Angeliki Melidou, principal expert in respiratory viruses at the ECDC, told The Telegraph. “It has many opportunities to adapt as it expands its host range, so vigilance is crucial.”

I’ve managed to find 27 NHS Trusts on here so far. Interesting to see who the early adopters are go.bsky.app/5n8tyzu 🦋

There seem to be a growing number of healthcare organisations setting themselves up on here. Please do let me know about any one I have missed go.bsky.app/a2U8nw

It does have to be said that Bluesky is feeling like a great place to hang out and talk science 🧪

I’d just like to say a massive thank you to all the wonderful people at East Kent Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre, especially Jane and Rob for putting up with me. Also a special mention for the legend that is David Gurney, the platelet king, for waving his arms around pretending to be vWF 🤣

Ooof, the endo is angry today. It’s going to be a long day. #endometriosis #IamThe1in10 #FVL

One more day at the haemophilia centre. It’s all making sense now, thank the haem and coag gods! It’s weird how getting a handle on the specialist stuff actually makes the routine stuff make more sense.

And now the GeneXpert and chatting about my own wonky heterozygous FVL. Good times.

Ah, ELISAs. My happy place 🤣
