Owns too many books. Likes James Bond (esp. Sir Tim of Dalton), Star Trek, Blakes 7, Doctor Who & Quatermass. And that is me smiling.

Obviously, Ukraine is not part of this "world"

Sigh

#NowWatching #DoctorWho Dark Water for the first time since 2014. Well... I vaguely remembered what ultimately happened to Danny. But I didn't remember the episode starting like *that*. And then the business with Clara and the keys...

The rescue operation in Kyiv has been going for more than 24 hours now

I am having a warcoffee. It is a mourning day in Kyiv. In memory of the people killed in a large-scale russian attack on the capital on the night of June 16-17 💔 No music in cafes, shops, etc. Only the sounds of life wander gently among the shelves and souls.

This is brilliant. A plaque commemorating where Cassian Andor got arrested by the Empire. And he *was* just a tourist. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I’m sure your media doesn’t cover things like this anymore. Kyiv is under a heavy drone attack. Fires have been reported in several districts of the city. We’re fine (as one can be under the current circumstances)

Look what I found when I searched "ICE uniform" in Google Shopping. None of us have any way of knowing if the "ICE agent" pushing you into a car, isn't just some unbalanced vigilante into cosplay. These are very dangerous times.

That army parade was straight outta Spinal Tap.

#NowWatching The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. It's been ages since I've seen this classic thriller. Rectifying it today after buying the new Arrow Blu Ray. Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, and a subway train. Gesundheit.

#NowWatching #DoctorWho Flatline for the first time since 2014. I have a memory of it being a good one. It is. Plus, lots of Clara

Watching the news tonight. It feels like a year since the Trump Musk breakup nonsense.

Fourth night of racist attacks sees homes targeted in Coleraine and east Belfast

An incredibly depressing read. Setting fire to a leasure centre as it has been used as emergency accommodation. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Poundland sold for £1 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We've lost another one of the great thriller authors. The Day of the Jackal author Frederick Forsyth dies. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

On Saturday, June 7th, President Trump attended the UFC fight in NJ. The same day, almost same time, the President has issued a proclamation allocating (at least) 2,000 National Guard troops (for 60 days or longer) to Los Angeles following the “clashes between ICE agents and protestors”.

#NowWatching #DoctorWho The Caretaker for the first time since 2014. Another one I have little memory of.

New Target Doctor Who novelisations wot I edited! You’ll need just 5.4cm of shelf space for fresh trips in time and space.

Season 3 trailer, y’all.

Seems Ukraine may have just done it again. Russians saying a grain train opened up and drones popped out, destroyed an entire locomotive, 13 tanks, armored vehicles etc.. (jayinkyiv posted it first)

ICYMI — ICE DIRECTOR: “These are real people with real families you’re hurting.” He says this not about immigrants… but about ICE agents. A record-setting lack of self-awareness.

#NowWatching #DoctorWho Time Heist for the first time since 2014. Fulfilling a Clara/Jenna Coleman fix. Honestly, I don't remember anything about this one....

That any of us have to care about the messy breakup of these two massive narcissists — and that they both individually wield such massive power — is an indictment of our political system and further proves the poisonous influence of Big Money on our democracy.

🤣🤣

#NowWatching #DoctorWho season 8 "Listen". Found myself in the mood for a Clara/Jenna Coleman episode and it's the next one. All I remember is the hand under the bed shenanigans. Will be interesting to revisit.

I knew this day would come, but honesty, I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. Orange guy : "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore" Musk: "Such ingratitude. Without me, Trump would have lost the election". www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cy...

French pilots of Mirage 2000 have made a demonstration flight over the Black Sea, "drawing" the Ukrainian trident. The route was clearly visible on Flight Radar. Thank you, France! 🇫🇷🇺🇦

ukrainian social media today:

In a healthy information environment, this would be front-page news.

Stunning details now emerging: this was an operation planned a year and a half in advance, involved smuggling drones into Russia, placing them in containers on top of trucks, arranging for them all to open simultaneously and to strike.

Kyiv. The drone attack lasted 9 h 32 m. I came to write a Sunday Letter at a cafe. Still closed since people couldn’t get to work. I sit outside, waiting for my coffee to be ready. Perhaps I won’t visit history class today. Writing down history here, on that chair outside of the closed cafe.

Already almost 150 Russia drones in Ukraine’s airspace detected

Watched #DoctorWho. I'm impressed that a thing happened that wasn't announced, although I had read speculation that the thing would happen. Plus, that person was in it, although I had read speculation that they were in it. But that other person was in it, which was a surprise to me. So, well done.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

#NowWatching The Quatermass Xperiment. Because it's never too soon to watch a Quatermass. And I'll surely end up rewatching the others.

I finished watching #DoctorWho The Three Doctors, which was a delight as always. #NowWatching Arc of Infinity. For reasons. It's not as delightful, but Nyssa is in it, and I'm fond of Nyssa.

Trump told West Point cadets at their graduation that he wouldn't be able to shake their hands, a tradition among US presidents, because he had urgent matters to deal with on China and Russia. This was him "dealing" with China and Russia moments later. He went golfing.

A perfect scene

Reading that Peter David has died. I know he worked on a lot of comics, but I knew him best from his Star Trek novels that I read back in the 1990s. His name on the cover was a sign of quality. aiptcomics.com/2025/05/25/p...

Where Eagles Dare is on the telly. Honestly, there's an argument to be made that it has the greatest theme tune ever.

#NowWatching #DoctorWho The Three Doctors. For reasons.

I'd been meaning to watch that Paradise show. Mainly because of Disney's never-ending advertising. I knew little about it but figured there was a "twist". Took a while to finish the first episode, flashbacks kept throwing me out of the story. There *was* a twist. A hell of a twist.
