We MUST get much more SERIOUS about actually building what we need to change what is going on. Bluesky still feels way too much about infotainment vs. working towards change. For example, I want to talk to donors, funders, grant programs. Is it even possible to connect to folks on Bluesky for that?

For the Blueskyers here: Trump is in office because of white people. It starts and ends there. I know folks love blaming young people or diverse communities but America's problem is a white problem. Always has been and continues to be.

As we fight for our communities in 2025 and more it has become perfectly clear that money for the progressive movement continues to lack. Too many groups are not getting their grants approved or grant cycles are delayed. Too many donors are not continuing their giving. We need to invest NOW!

I am scraping half my classes this to discuss all this. If academia and America is going down, I’m going down swinging.

Bluesky has WAY too many folks posting from places of comfort & privilege & don't want to risk anything. There is no intentionality on this site. Folks just messaging woe is me mentality & armchair quarterbacking. I'm want to connect w/ folks that actually want to work & collaborate. Any here?

We are not going to volunteer our way out of this mess. We MUST fund the movement. We MUST build organizing infrastructure. Support Grassroots Organizers in Texas Today! linktr.ee/texasgrassro...

Excellent insight!

It is important to focus on things that matter. 1) Organize - Build relationships & work on actions locally to build community power. 2) Donate - Give funds to local grassroots organizers who are doing the tough work every day. 3) Stop doom scrolling & outrage posting. That doesn't do shit.

Join us Week 417, John Cornyn Houston Office Protest., Tue, 2/4, 5300 Memorial Dr. Showing up so important. People must see others standing for democracy no matter aggression of right. Cornyn Protest sets the example. Join for friends, foes, police, elected officials & passers-by to see. #Houston

Mavs fans were sold out by @mcuban.bsky.social when he sold the team to Miriam Adelson (Trumper). Luka being traded is devastating & feels like a move out of the film Major League when the owner wants to tank the Cleveland team to move them to Miami. I'm sure Adelson will try to move Mavs to Vegas.

Important Texas grassroots activism. Support the people doing the work close to home.

Want to know who the 5 biggest individual contributors in Texas politics were in the 2024 election? Who they gave to? And then to understand who is pulling the strings in our state? The oligarchs have taken aim on Texas #txlege open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Getting to work with organizers that are at the beginning of their journey is always exciting to see. Yumna recently joined the Tarrant4Change Core team. She is an accomplished writer & co-founded Ebony Tomatoes while at NYU. She supports efforts through social media, graphic design, & photography.

Spent the morning co-working with Jalyn Gordon, visionary of Afrocommuniversity and The Village. Jalyn is based out of Fort Worth, TX but works across the state and country to support activistpreneurs in aligning activism, culture, and entrepreneurship. I'm excited for our collaborations in 2025!

This is a good thread from Alex about the need to support genuine Grassroots Organizers who have real autonomy to advocate for all of us. It’s clear that business as usual isn’t working. Check out & support the organizers he lists. Our freedom & safety is really going to be up to each of us.

So much content & time on social media is wasted on reactionary clout chasing. Folks will rarely or never use their online presence to uplift work on the ground. Every day local grassroots organizers are fighting for our future & serving their community. Share their stories and support them.

As the executive orders started flowing yesterday, I immediately recognized what was happening as Project 2025 being executed. @mentack.bsky.social and I did a breakdown of some of the key elements last August. This is a good time to revisit. open.substack.com/pub/christac...
