New from me in The Guardian: Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan's massive philanthrocapitalist org CZI is now gutting all internal and external DEI efforts and grants, and it's scrubbed its website of mentions of its diversity work. Whole pages, quotes from Chan, blurbs on staff, all gone.

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in January: "Meta’s changes to its DEI efforts does not impact ours." Chan Zuckerberg Initiative now: "We will no longer have a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility team at CZI." www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

With this EO, Trump is explicitly seizing control of agencies meant to operate free from presidential interference, such as the FCC, FTC, FEC and financial regulators. Now any new regulations must go through the White House. Monumental change here. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

DOGE says it has saved $55 billion in federal spending so far, but its website only accounts for $16.6 billion of that

Did Mark Zuckerberg ever consider DEI a priority, despite Meta's public pronouncements? www.theguardian.com/technology/n...

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.” Huge.

A big lol at Spotify’s recent obvious recent PR play

The long and hopeful saga of diversity at Meta, which ultimately turned into a painful and bitter ordeal for employees who worked on it www.theguardian.com/technology/n...
