Do love hitting refresh over and over again to learn what my rights are

If the Supreme Court thinks universal injunctions are unconstitutional, to wait until *now* to say that, in this of all cases, with this of all presidents, is a devastating indictment of both its impartiality and its prudence.

from “student debt forgiveness is tyranny” to “the president is allowed to point at someone and have them summarily executed on the spot” in 2 years

all of the Supreme Court’s jurisprudence about executive power - all of it - can be replaced with a simple flow chart. is the president a Republican? if so it’s ok. if not, it’s presumptively not ok.

This is the silver lining to me also. Gotta look for the little things.

An addled president is shredding the Constitution to usher in white nationalism and fascism while destroying the economy and our health care, so if you’re going to write an alarmist op-ed because a mayoral candidate might open five (5) city-run grocery stores, you can kindly get bent.

Today marks the third anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. What's happened since? A record number of women have been prosecuted. Pregnancy loss is now considered extremely suspicious, even when it has nothing to do with abortion.

It’s like 105°F in DC which goes with our continued transformation into Hell itself

I miss having presidents who respected their office instead of viewing it primarily as a tool to build their own wealth and power. And I miss having presidents who respected the people in this country as humans, instead of viewing them as pawns and plebeians over whom to rule.

Well, gosh, whoda thunk

“U.S. Officials Concede They Don’t Know Whereabouts of Iran’s Uranium Stockpile” Mission accomplished! 🤦🏽‍♂️

We could have just arrested him after January 6. Imagine the number of people who would be alive today. Who wouldn't die as this continues to unfold. The best case scenario is that we'll remain enough of a country to reckon with this mistake later.

Host: Are you saying the US did not see intelligence that the Supreme Leader had ordered weaponization? Rubio: That’s irrelevant Host: No, that's a key point Rubio: No it’s not… Forget about intelligence

He just dropped $280,000,000 worth of artillery in a war that’s not ours, but our grandparents have to live on Ramen noodles because America can’t afford Meals on Wheels anymore. Make it make sense.

The American people were lied to about Vietnam, with tragic consequences. The American people were lied to about Iraq, with tragic consequences. The American people are being lied to again today. We cannot allow history to repeat itself.

If evidence existed of nukes, it would’ve been easy for a GOP President to convince a GOP Congress to authorize force. We’ll never know if evidence existed, but now we’re at war with a country that never attacked us right next door to the last war we fought against a country that never attack us.

"We’re right back to another Watergate, except worse": Trump has systematically dismantled many of the structural reforms put in place a half century ago to prevent a repeat of what was the biggest scandal of modern times until now. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

By the way, one of the reasons it’s terrible all of these people lie all of the time about meaningless things is it makes it impossible to believe them when they’re talking about incredibly consequential things.

This is where Trump’s erosion of US trust complicates diplomatic efforts to end the war. Iran was abiding by the Iran Deal (JCPOA). Trump tore it up for no reason, and enrichment ramped up again. Then, he bombs Iran’s nuclear sites and demands another deal. See the problem?

he was hosting celebrity apprentice ten years ago

at least he didn't do something truly reckless like try to forgive student loans

An unpopular and virtually unconstrained authoritarian has turned the military on domestic political opponents and a sovereign foreign country. We are in a very bad place.

Just to be crystal clear: bombing Iran is completely illegal.

Another Republican President with low approval ratings and a shrinking economy taking us into war in the Middle East.

it’s even more demoralizing when the history you’re repeating is history you were around for the first time

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

I’ll say it again: It was a huge mistake for Congress to abolish itself.

Donald Trump is a deranged lunatic who wouldn’t be allowed to manage a Wendy’s. But I guess we all have to pretend like this is normal and not 25th amendment behavior. People who treat this as acceptable are the insane ones.

"These men made our lives possible. They were impelled to risk all by a sense of obligation to the future. We possess a reciprocal obligation to the past. We must not squander what they bequeathed to us." @drewfaust.bsky.social Drew Faust in @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/05/26/o...

The federal district courts deserve our praise and thanks. They are slowing and often halting the march of MAGA fascism.

Hegseth's personal lawyer, also overseeing an internal Pentagon investigation, claimed to have used an illegal, warrantless NSA wiretap to spy on top aides, finding they spoke to the press about plans for the Panama Canal. The WH thinks they are lying. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Chris Krebs is America’s next profile in courage. The entire nation should support this honorable and courageous fellow citizen.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

I've been saying it for a little while now and will say it again; we don't have three branches of government right now. We have two real branches (executive and judicial) and a junior varsity branch (legislative) that is acting like it's a smol bean with no power. THAT is a constitutional crisis.

Oh. "This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“

It is wild to consider now (it was dumb then but esp now) that for most my life the big thing on the right is “we are the party of individual rights” LOL

Knowing that things are going to get worse for everyone but not knowing when new horrible things will occur or what shape they’ll take is really bad for our health

If the IRS deprives Harvard of its tax-exempt status, that's very bad for Harvard but it's also a catastrophe for the IRS. Instead of a neutral agency that enforces tax law, it will become a tool of partisan warfare. It may never recover.

It works. The government here largely works. Because we are so spoiled by how well it works, we are letting a fool convince us it is broken.

Today @vanhollen.senate.gov was denied entry to the same prison.

Steve Kerr is a national treasure!! And I don’t even watch basketball lol

Marco Rubio says that Americans living in Europe shouldn't ever have to face any ramifications for their political speech online. The chutzpah is jaw-dropping, as he is PERSONALLY trying to deport legal immigrants for their political speech in the United States.

If this trolling drives the us economy into a ditch it will be an excellent metaphor

WSJ EDITORIAL BOARD: “.. The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the government may not use federal benefits or funds to coerce parties to surrender their constitutional rights. This is what the Administration is doing ..” @wsj.com www.wsj.com/opinion/dona...

When Andrew Tate was charged with rape and human trafficking, Trump intervened to fly him back to the US. When a working-class father of a disabled 5-year-old child was wrongfully deported and charged with NO crime, Trump refuses to lift a finger.

It's genuinely hard to express to sort of normal not politically plugged in non-lawyers *how* lawless the Trump administration is, and I think that's some part of the problem. You sound like you're hyperventilating, but it's just a flat description of what is going on.
