Not an easy phonescope job but had great views of this White-billed Diver slowly drifting N at Pease Bay just now #BirdingScotland

After this week’s Coot and my second #BWPUC recordings of Mallard and Barn Owl it looks like things are beginning to pick up a little. Over 1200 recordings so far today - with my first Dipper for a few weeks. Here’s a nice Dipper recording from January app.birdweather.com/soundscapes/...

A Coot picked up on the #BWPUC tonight led me to notice for the first time a nice nocmig recording from early February here in Penicuik #MidlothianBirds app.birdweather.com/soundscapes/...

Planning to split my birding between hills and coast moving forward. So, after 4+ years focusing pretty much solely on Midlothian, I’m now going to be birding Midlothian + Pease Bay, Scottish Borders. It’s by no means the best spot for seawatching, but it’ll be my spot, and it’ll beat Gladhouse 😉

After an early lead by the Robin, the Blue Tit now has hit 50,000+ #BWPUC detections. Pretty accurate at this end of the leaderboard but it still seems to be struggling with Song Thrush - misidentified Robin calls and ignoring the song. It missed these Mute Swans overhead yesterday morning as well

Pease Bay, Scottish Borders, this weekend: 1 Great Northern Diver, 3 Red-throated Diver, 18 Long-tailed Duck, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 1 Puffin, 1 Peregrine. Lots of courtship among the Razorbills and the LtDs #BirdingScotland

Yesterday was one of those rare days where the sun was shining, the birds were performing and the memory card had space. I’ve not looked through all of the 1000 or so pics but to take this pair of pairs was something special 😍 #MidlothianBirds

Had a very enjoyable afternoon being repeatedly reminded how awesome Golden Eagles are - it is fantastic having these birds back in the local hills thanks to the efforts of the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project #MidlothianBirds

Eurasian Sparrowhawk doing its best impression of Common Kestrel - not an active hover, but a very impressive extended period with it hanging almost motionless in the same spot for over a minute #MidlothianBirds

Anyone know how to export all of your BirdTrack data from BirdTrack? I’m keen to get all my data into ebird and am struggling to get access to all of my data (for example BT will give me a list of species and then just some stats about how many records and places 1/2 #BirdingScotland

A bout of Covid (or similar) has had me laid low for a while. Few birds of note although a Brambling in Esk Bridge this morning was a nice thing to see. A Little Egret at Gladhouse a couple of days ago is the new normal #MidlothianBirds

They’re back! It’s going to be a noisy few months for the #BWPUC

Worth keeping an eye on #BWPUC air pressure data as Storm Éowyn passes today - I’ve watched mine dip from 963mb down to 944mb and then back again over the last hour. That’s low enough for me - stay safe everyone

Nice recording of a Grey Heron as it flew along the valley - with Blue Tits calling away as well. The latter has overtaken Robin as the most commonly recorded daily species on my #BWPUC. I’m interested to see how the most common species change as the year goes on app.birdweather.com/soundscapes/...

Was on my way to check a Long-eared Owl territory when this Barn Owl stopped me in my tracks - I don’t normally get views anything like this. And yes the LEO was in song as well so a really cracking little trip! 🦉🦉 #MidlothianBirds
