This directly impacts our partners, the Maijuna. Educators who have joined our Amazon Research Initiative geography team will focus on creating a case study while they are in the field with us in July. #amazonrainforest #conservation #Indigenous #road news.mongabay.com/2025/03/indi...

“Right now, because of climate change and because of what farmers are facing in terms of extreme weather events, we need every piece of available information we can get,” he said. “We don’t have access to that, we’re not going to make it.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/24/c...

Amazing!

I am a scientist because the National Science Foundation funded The Polaris Project, a IPY program to bring undergrads to the Arctic. The NSF funded my GRFP, two postdocs, and now my research as a PI. I still hope it can be similarly life changing for my students, while supporting great science.

I am a scientist because NASA inspired me, outreach at Fermilab (DOE) taught me, DOE & NSF REU programs trained me, and NSF-CZO and EPSCOR programs funded my PhD & Postdoc. My students became scientists supported by USGS, Sea Grant (NOAA), and USACE. Future generations deserve these opportunities!

Every scientist, long before they were a scientist, was a little kid who stood in front of a fish tank or stared up at the stars or turned over a rock to look at the bugs underneath and said “wow”. On the best days, working in science still feels like that.

Where are we with calculating AI carbon offset for tools like ChatGTP? Are there any calculators /estimates that would be useful for creating learning activities for students? Any ideas @drdeblmorrison.bsky.social @katharinehayhoe.com @projectdrawdown.bsky.social @climateconnections.bsky.social

The majority of Americans understand that global warming is happening, that it is mostly owing to human activity, and that most scientists agree that global warming is happening. ncse.ngo/climate-chan... #climatestats

Celebrate IUCN’s #NatureForAll Love Fest with us! This tiny dart frog is about to leave the forest floor & climb into the canopy to deposit the tadpole on its back in a pool of water trapped in a bromeliad 100 ft (30m) high. This is our #LoveNature moment for today. What’s yours? #amazonrainforest
