Good news! Austrian media is reporting that the proposed KTM restructuring deal has been accepted. The company now needs to find €750m in investment by May. By my reckoning, they've got about €350m already.

So I asked Dorna why I’m being asked to pay a 200 Euro renewal fee, when others at getting it for less. Their reply was… some people pay less? I think? Fuck me, I guess.

That time of the year again when we’re faced with the eye-watering renewal fee for VideoPass. 200 Euros for me or whatever that is in pounds. That is a lot to pay in one go, and I instinctively balk at it. A tenner a month would be so much better.

Sergio Garcia joins Alonso Lopez as another title challenger on the testing injury list. A broken hand at Jerez means he needs surgery and will potentially miss round one.

Interesting that the Moto3 team BOE Motorsports has ended up with two riders from the southern hemisphere, with Kiwi Cormac Buchanan joined by South African Ruche Moodley. You'd call that a rare event, but we've just had two years of antipodeans in the KTM MotoGP factory squad.

Canet, Baltus and Gonzalez dominated the Moto2 test at Jerez, Canet the fastest over the three days and well into the 1'39s. Canet and Baltus were fast enough to have qualified 4th and 5th for the 2010 MotoGP race, between Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi. motomatters.com/race_or_prac...

Amazing that for all the random variables that lead to a lap time being set, two teammates manage to set the exact same time.

I've managed to squash a couple of edge case bugs related to tests that were causing some weirdness with session names and duplicated riders on the results sheet. This is all in my containing quest to add exceptions for unreliable, incomplete and plain wrong data retrieved from the MotoGP API.

A topic that turns me into a raving economic terrorist. The problem is always that "populations don’t understand that their country NEEDS growth". However I think that desiring a smaller population is an entirely sane position, and maybe the problem is the giant pyramid scheme of an economic model.

Comparing qualifying in 2024 vs the Buriram test. Joan Mir and Luca Marini showing how much the Honda has improved, the two Marquez brothers much faster on the GP24 than on the GP23. And the Aprilia looks really good, including in the hands of Raul Fernandez. motomatters.com/race_or_prac...

Buriram MotoGP test Wednesday round upis posted. - Ducati's GP24 vs GP25, - KTM's surprising pace (and why they didn't talk to journalists), - Yamaha's deceptive struggles, - Bezzecchi settling in, - Honda making strides motomatters.com/analysis/202...

A comparison of today's times at the Buriram MotoGP test with those set last year during Q2 on the race weekend. Some interesting perspectives. motomatters.com/race_or_prac...

Nothing quite like a Reddit shitting on KTM circlejerk.

A message arrives in my inbox. This guy has been making money streaming someone else's web app and someone else's data on YouTube, and now wants to speak to the complaints department when he's inevitably blocked.

Day 2 of the Moto3 test at Portimao seems to be finally underway after a probable rain delay. ⏱️ Live timing available here: livetiming.getraceresults.com/autodromodoa...

One of my two essential listens to stay up to date with and understand MotoGP (the other being the Paddock Pass Podcast). Give Mat and Peter a listen if you haven’t already. (And @matoxley.bsky.social, please tell Peter to get his arse over here to Bluesky.)

As promised, today's lesson in riding styles. Motorcycles are dynamic objects, and as this photo series proves, there is more than one way to go fast motomatters.com/index.php/ph...

Just 3 weeks to go to start of the 2025 MotoGP season - the earliest start most can remember, with first practice on last day of February. The earliest ever start to the GP season was 1964 when the Grand Prix was part of the Daytona Speed week….

Final times from day 3 of Sepang. GP24s of Alex M & Morbidelli in great shape. Marquez & Bagnaia also very strong. Quartararo a factor in top 3 on all 3 days, which bodes well for Yamaha. Question marks over KTM, even if Acosta's 6th. & Honda's made a step over single lap.

Sepang #MotoGP test day 2 round up: - Ducati - stuck between GP24 and GP25, with no reason to upgrade - Yamaha real progess - Aprilia - better than they look? - Honda small steps - KTM - stuck in a rut? motomatters.com/analysis/202...
