Enjoy good friends, family, food, music, movies, books, hobbies, exercise, sports, and relaxation, as much as you can. This mess has no quick solution. Also, never underestimate the deviant joy of watching fools feel the pain. Hey, we have to get through this somehow, whatever it takes. No shamešŸ˜‰

The GOP Senate has abdicated their constitutional role as a check on presidential power through the confirmation process.

Do you think heā€™s just really dumb or does he just knowingly lie all the time?

"Mr. President, Ukraine will only ā€˜be Russian somedayā€™ if the United States abandons them to Putinā€™s brutal invasion." -- Mike Pence, 2 Feb 2025. -- This is the timeline we live in. The most conservative Republican has to set the rebut the gaslighting about Ukraine. šŸ™ƒ

More clout chasers making fawning gestures to Dear Leader. šŸ¤®šŸ¤”

We'll see if the previously rejected unitary executive theory passes muster with the current iteration of the Supreme Court. It could go either way with this Court. Independent regulatory agencies are presumed to be outside of the direct control of the president. šŸ˜•

I say it all the time! Small things to big things. Chip away at that mountain, one day at a time.

Math is hard

MAGA loves the distress expressed by those who can see and do understand the sabotage and vandalism of our institutions. When you ask, "Is this what you voted for?" (a useless question), they proudly say, "Damn right!" Don't plead with them. They love your pain. That is the point.

We are witnessing the sheep cheer as the wolves slaughter the shepherds. When you post or discuss the resignations of reputable civil servants in important positions with extensive expertise, MAGA is not fazed. This carnage is exactly what they want... for now.

I'm for neither Team Red nor Team Blue. I am for Team Reason over Team Stupid. It so happens that, at the present, one team, the current Republican Party, is exhibiting a special level of inanity that poses an existential threat to the very idea of America.

I have ZERO party loyalty. However, I have a pragmatic alignment with Dems that will remain so long as it makes sense. I don't see that alignment changing anytime soon, given the current milieu. Third parties are NOT viable options without RCV or run-off elections. Full Stop.

Heā€™s not making up: news.bloomberglaw.com/banking-law/... Is this really what yā€™all voted for? šŸ«¤ šŸ’°

Here are some simple steps to better distinguish fact from fiction: A helpful šŸ§µ 1. When someone claims something is ā€œfraud,ā€ ask, ā€œCan you show me proof?ā€ 2. If you canā€™t ask questions directly, look for credible sources that have already asked them and see if evidence has been provided.

Health is not a zero-sum game. When any country is healthier, all countries benefit from stability, safety, and economic growth. Smallpox eradication is one of the greatest accomplishments of humanity. Global cooperation makes it possible to controlā€”and maintain controlā€”of deadly threats.

Epidemic intelligence service officers are the cream of the cream. They're top doctors, veterinarians & other health professionals. They sign up for a two-year training program to serve the country. Not only is terminating them bad for the country, it's also a disgraceful violation of a commitment.

The abrupt terminations of more than 1,000 employees, including new Epidemic Intelligence Officers, across CDC are deeplyā€Ædisturbing. For more than 70 years, EIS officers have served on Americaā€™s front line as its disease detectives, ready at a momentā€™s notice to respond to emerging outbreaks.

The Trump adminĀ has "disrupted the response" to bird flu by withholding reports and canceling meetings with both Congress and state health officials,Ā leading to confusion and concern among federal staff, states, veterinarians and health experts. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...

Ketaminocracy is the new word for the day

Wikipedia update: "Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. (born January 17, 1954) ... is an American politician, environmental lawyer, author, anti-vaccine activist, and conspiracy theorist [and] 26th United States secretary of health and human services since February 13, 2025." šŸ™ƒšŸ¤”

Those who thought the GOP Senate would check Trump: "So far even nominees once seen as having uncertain prospects ā€” including...Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ā€” have been able to marshal sufficient support from Republicans eager to fall in line with Trump's agenda."

"[Kash Patel] missed Trump so much that he wrote a series of childrenā€™s books praising King Donald. That is sick.ā€ - Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37)

MAGA has no reality feedback mechanism. What they FEEL is what drives their ex post facto rationalizations and "protective stupidity." Facts and logic are not as potent as one might think to these marks, as choice-supportive bias, confirmation bias, and motivated reasoning dominate such minds.

Many MAGA fans think all the pushback against the overreach of the Trump/Musk regime is from the "Deep State" (a fever dream) trying to protect its evil activities from exposure and eradication by the righteous sword of the paragon of "real America," Trump and <checks notes> Elon Musk. šŸ™ƒ

Emil Bove is Trump's new Roy Cohn...

The pushback against efforts to corrupt the DOJ is afoot. It should inspire similar resistance in other departments to unethical and/or illegal orders. He will eventually find someone to comply--like Roger Tawney for Andrew Jackson, and Robert Bork for Richard Nixon, but the stain will not go away.

Valor Danielle Sassoon, Acting U.S. attorney for SDNY - refuses to drop Adams charges and resigns John Keller, Acting head of DOJ Public Integrity Section - refuses and resigns Kevin Driscoll, Acting head of DOJ Criminal Division - refuses and resigns www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...

The legacy media was quick to defend Fox in 2009 when it thought Obama was being mean. Today with the AP? Crickets. The difference is that media orgs knew they had nothing to fear from Obama, so protesting was free. Making a stink over the AP today might actually cost them something.

It would be funny if the deranged dictator started renaming places at a steady pace to see how quickly Google and others kowtow.

ā€œ Kash Patel is a freak. And not the Rick James kind. Itā€™s a thumbs down for crooked Kash. This is a guy who openly attacked the FBI and compromised its relationship with the intelligence community, and now he could be running the damn thing? That is just plain stupid.ā€ ā€” Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove

Part 2: ā€œThe first time he served in Trumpā€™s administration, he took heat for being singularly focused on pleasing Trump. And when that gig was up, he missed Trump so much that he wrote a series of childrenā€™s books praising King Donald. That is sick.ā€ - Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove
