(1/2) Movement member Sam Jeong pens a love letter to the bus speed priority lanes and imagines a world without buses. We can’t let that happen, let’s save the bus! savethebus.ca

It feels so good to see our lil bus smiling! Let's work together to keep it that way. You can help save our bus by: Level 1: Signing our pre-formatted email to show your support. Level 2: Share a video clip or text us at 604-983-2664 about how losing the service would impact your life. (1/2)

For the first time ever, California's State Rail Plan incorporates an international best practice known as "service-led planning” as a fundamental element. Tune into this webinar to learn more about the plan, what is service-led planning, and reactions from advocates. 🔗Link below and in our bio

"How would losing access to your bus affect your daily life?" A scary question to imagine for those for whom driving is not an option. Thanks to this transit rider for sharing her concerns, let's ensure that our leaders prioritize transit.

Make your voice heard! Thanks to this transit rider for speaking up! Let’s amplify their message and make transit funding an issue politicians can’t ignore. Share your story via an audio or video clip with us, and visit savethebus.ca to request a meeting with your MLA.

This is not a region that can tolerate a 50% cut in bus service. Help us make this an issue that politicians can't ignore. Go to http://savethebus.ca and ask your MLA for a meeting. [This is the 257 stop downtown going *out* of the city core in the AM Peak. This is the less-busy direction.]

Philly is the latest city to use bus-mounted cameras to automatically ticket cars blocking transit lanes and bus stops. This is one the best transportation technology innovations of the last decade. Every city should be using it.

“What if we didn’t save the bus?” Movement member Michael Hall reminds us what would happen if we don’t advocate for better transit. Without transit funding, traffic will worsen; it will be terrible for the climate; it will cost our economy; and life will become more expensive. savethebus.ca

‼️YOUR BUS IS AT RISK‼️ Read through this thread or go straight to https://savethebus.ca/ to find out how you can save it. 1/7

Kudos to our friends at @ttcriders.bsky.social, who got all Ontario's opposition parties (Liberal, NDP, Green) to agree to cover half the cost of operating Toronto's transit. Here in Vancouver, we also need the province to pitch in to prevent massive cuts. Find out more at savethebus.ca

❤️‍🔥💞❤️💗 Happy Valentine’s Day ❤️‍🔥💖♥️💕 Send these to your bus buddies! & keep an eye out for our new campaign that drops today. Our buses need some love (funding). Valentine’s cards by Orcanadian Art ♥️

In case you've ever wondered how workers benefit from better transit: “Since we launched our service improvements starting in 2018, I’ve heard from tons of riders who have said ‘this allows me to pick up overtime at my job’ and ‘this means I can make it to a doctor’s appointment’

Boston's been sprinting ahead with bus lanes. Now that their signal priority pilot has been successful, they're implementing it system-wide. Do you want this in your city? Let city council know! All you have to do is e-mail them this article and say: "I want this!" www.smartcitiesdive....

Transit is popular. This national poll pegs the popularity of transit investment at 81%. There's never been a better time for provincial and federal gov'ts to let er rip. If you want them to build more transit, let them know. @equiterre.bsky.social www.equiterre.org/en...

Last summer, Vancouver council asked BC to legalize bus lane cameras (we strongly encouraged them to do this 😉). Check out this CBC story on how they're using it in Seattle, and also ticketing motorists who block intersections. Toronto's doing it next! Whaddaya say, BC? www.youtube.com/watc...

We can't wait until 2027, riders on Broadway are delayed by a collective 1,500 hours every day! If you have 30 seconds, send our pre-written letter: win.newmode.net/movement-tra... If you have five minutes, write your own letter to share your bus delay story: movementyvr.ca/east-broadwa...

Movement encourages you to only use 100% Canadian owned and operated public transit.

In case you're wondering what we thought of yesterday's federal announcement of $66m/year for TransLink: “In Canada, too many people are forced to go out and spend $30,000 on a car because transit in their neighbourhood is too slow and too unreliable.

Metro Vancouver's going all in on Bus Rapid Transit. That means there's a lot of pressure to get it right. If you care about that, watch this truly excellent video about how Cleveland made every BRT mistake in the book. www.youtube.com/watc...

You should be able to trust the #TTC to show up when you expect it to. Andy Takagi covers our new report about TTC metrics vs. how riders actually experience service. The TTC's bunching reduction pilot is an opportunity for new, transparent metrics. www.thestar.com/news/gta/ttc...

Why is it harder than ever to get funding for transit, yet buses in some parts of the country are seeing record overcrowding? Thanks @theenergymix.com for covering this crucial issue! www.theenergymix.com/canadas-tran...

When was the last time you heard a mayoral candidate talking about bus bunching? Listen to what NYC's Zellnor Myrie said when asked about bus lanes at Riders Alliance's debate. PS The B41 bus route he's referring to has about the same ridership as Vancouver's route R4. youtu.be/oD4QaSr9jKA?...

Focusing on making buses better is the easiest way to make transit in your city significantly better without the pricetag of rail. #bus #transit #trains #publictransportation

Who likes waiting for the bus in the rain? Without a seat? On the Infrequent Transit Network? NOOOBODY! It can be a pretty offputting or even humiliating experience. So, massive massive kudos to @cityofdeltabc.bsky.social for installing some badly needed BUS SHELTERS! please keep it up!!! 🙏🚍❤️

It's hard to look at the news and not have a strong reaction. Let me tell you why I'm more certain than ever that transit organizing deserves your funding and support:

Rest In Peace Shawn Yim ❤️ Murdered on the job while driving bus, King County Metro arranged a memorial procession in his honour and boy did they get a turnout. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

1/ The 99 B-Line is the busiest bus route in North America, but bus lane hours don’t meet the needs of riders. Vision Zero Vancouver is supporting Movement's call to the @CityofVancouver to extend the Broadway bus lane hours to 7 AM–7 PM, 7 days a week. movementyvr.ca/east-...
