Fair play, Bosch is a heck of a pick!! Looks like a proper player to me.

Some take aways from this series #NzVEng 1. If Santner was English he would have played 100 tests by now. 2. Bethall looks a player, protect and nurture him. 3. England's media rhetoric is delusional. We all would have taken a 2-1 win at the start but this feels like more like a loss.

There maybe some issues with Bethall facing hard length just outside off. This is due to a slight legs legside trigger that many left handers have... but more importantly, I love the way he just played that bouncer shows he has a strong ticker. He certainly has a strong future if he wants it.

I don't think it's as much technique as it is attitude, application and an inflexible approach. This is not dissimilar to the leadership.

Bashir, I'm afraid, should not be learning his trade in test cricket. Pope looks like a division 5 keeper (there are actually a couple of good 13 yr olds in div 5). Some poor fielding...really bad cricket from England today.

That is a truly embarrassing batting performance from England's men... their ability to read conditions and adapt in the field is totally neglected when they bat. Pope is incompetent against spin, Stokes needs to start to value his wicket...he is better than he is showing... some really poor shots

Having just read the @guerillacricket.bsky.social day 1 report - very good btw... is that 82 overs in 7 hours? Marginally more understandable imo than 82 in 6.5 hours of the first test (due to no spin bowled) but is still taking the mick. #NZVENG

Smith is Class mate, great addition to the Surrey Galacticos.

Fave 5 cricket Shots and their batter. 1- Ian Bell - cover Drive 2- Robin Smith - cut shot 3- MS Dhoni - Helecopter 4- KP - Switch Hit 5- Brian Lara - any shot he played

For my money Pope is no wicket keeper but... byes for that is just insanity and he can consider himself very unlucky.

Tom Blundell is proof that you can play a proper wicket keeper. Duckett, what a catch! Carse is a beast. Bashir is not our best spinner.

Slightly disappointed that England didn't bat on all day or at least another hour. Purely from a selfish perspective.

Siraj is an unpleasant character, good ball and celebrate; but no need to send off a lad who has hit a run a ball 140 and cjanged the direction of the game... AusVInd

There is a fine line between leaving your keeper room for brilliance and leaving a gaping hole... on this occasion India left a gaping hole.

Well, the Bethall hunch seems to be a good one! Now the question long term is how do they fit Pope in and a keeper?

Tim Southee has been a fantastic servant to New Zealand but I think he might be nearing the finishing line in his career.

Contrary to my previous post, it's very tricky batting out there...lots of squared up batters... go out there and slog a few its the only answer.

Its very tricky batting, lots of squared up batters. Maybe leave a few where appropriate, chaps! #nzveng

‘Test bowling is different to county cricket – here’s why’ - www.bbc.com/sport/cricke... Good article... Carse, pinpointed early as a Plunkett replacement - just took a while to prove it. Atkinson, one of 10 strong fast bowlers at Surrey who regularly rotate. Lots to like about England's options.

What was the hourly over rate actual. 90 over should be bowled in 6 playing hours.... England bowled 11.4 an hour on day 1 ... it is not good enough... bash bowled 20 of those overs btw

How can a professional footballer on £100000 + per week not know what a foul throw is? His back foot was waist height, Neto for Chelsea v Villa

Brilliant!!

For sure, both things can be true. You can feel that the selection making is flawed and voice it... and have a desire for it to turn out better than think it will... kid is talented but this is dumping him in and fingers crossed

11.5 overs per hour is a disgrace!

NZ have always had a bit of grass on their tracks but they play better than they look.

Not sure Chris Woakes will ever get a better pitch to drag his overseas test average closer to his domestic one. Might prefer a less intimidating looking batting order I guess. Have NZ ever had a stronger one?

What a lovely ground this is... what a way to watch cricket. Sadly I'm in flood ridden worcestershire #hagleyoval #Christchurch #NewZealand
