This is going to be a colossal waste of money and it probably won’t work

Someone came into my mentions trying to explain (incorrectly) ICC jurisdiction to me, debating whether/how to respond

No ping pong wtf

Durham County Public Health bringing it, love to see this

More university leaders need to be doing exactly what Michael Roth of Wesleyan just did—going on national media outlets, defending higher ed, and pushing back against the administration’s attacks

Where can I sports bet on “first American national to face an ICC arrest warrant”? Rubio is probably the odds on favorite right now

Which ICC State Party is going to refer the situation in El Salvador (a State Party where the Court’s territorial jurisdiction applies)?

If liberal democracy survives here or in other places in the world, the pic of the GOP rep doing a thumbs up at the Salvadoran concentration camp is gonna end up being in lots of textbooks on mass atrocities

Sort of like when we stopped tracking COVID, if there’s no data, it doesn’t exist

A university in a non-transphobic blue state or other Anglophone country could probably hire an entire interdisciplinary faculty of trans scholars for whom living in red states or TERF island is no longer safe or feasible

Taking the L on my prediction that Rubio would be the least worst Trump Cabinet appointee, he might be the actual worst

These data are a public good, paid for by American taxpayers

There are going to need to be trials and lustration and lots of other forms of accountability for all of this

EVEN IF he was arrested with "rolls of cash and drugs" and was an MS-13 member, he is entitled to due process of law

Tenure letters going out soon, so purged all of my posts and will be on here less frequently for the foreseeable future! (BlueSky needs a private account option!) Will still be on the 'gram, where I am more fun anyway, so lmk if you want to follow there and I can DM you my handle!

honestly this stuff is insulting

guys i think an AI wrote this!!

With this, and the DoJ clearly targeting political opponents, I'm afraid I have to agree with Steve Levitsky and @lucanway.bsky.social -- we are a competitive authoritarian regime. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv... www.foreignaffairs.com/united-state...

This is a start but, to be clear, still nowhere close to maximum obstruction. No UC, on anything. No unrecorded votes, on anything. No waiving rules, on anything. Fight even on adjournments. Quorum calls every time you can. Make every dilatory motion in the books and new ones you just made up.

it is so important to remember that IN THE MOMENT there was no one who thought jan. 6 was some innocent protest gone awry. everyone recognized it for what it was.

Do you know how much of a drunk you need to be to worry people working in cable news

The presidential power to issue pardons is written into the Constitution. That is the rule of law.

Yep. Biden, wanting to Uphold the Norms, agreed to keep on a Trump-appointed prosecutor who was probing his son. Created a special counsel to probe his own post-VP document retention. Kept on Durham so he could finish a Trump-ordered probe of 2016. What did he get? Nothing. So here he goes.

Down here we call it “state capture”
