I'm surprised not more has been written about Old Skies 9/11 chapter. It feels like something a time travel game shouldn't touch, but the way it treads around the event itself, while very much being about the last moment of a particular era, is immensely skillful stuff.

😭😭😭😭

I think this is going to be a strong month. We will be doing a bigger, non-Patreon Metroid episode closer to Metroid Prime 4, but this should be a good warmup.

Old Skies is another treat in a year of many. Almost structured like a short story collection, so it's really easy to dip in, play around and get a sense of closure/achievement in a couple of hours. Just played an excellent little riff on a time loop story, looking forward to what it chucks in next.

Promise Mascot Agency is $24.99 and rules just so, so hard. store.steampowered.com/app/2585830/...

I like that the very traditional Sally Lunn's is going full D&D for their deal for Bath Restaurant Week.

Enjoying Million Dollar Secret on Netflix but they've never actually explained how the game ends - how many rounds does the secret millionaire need to survive or how many people might split the prize if they catch them at the end. It's weirdly fluffy for a game allegedly about strategy.

We got middle-aged men cards for your enjoyment!

Blue Prince is personally taunting me.

This has massive Promise Mascot Agency energy.

Just lost a whole afternoon to Promise Mascot Agency, aka: Good Hangs: The Game.

Thank you very much for the kind words about Promise Mascot Agency, @backpagepod.bsky.social! We never skip a Takaya Kuroda dialogue line either. 😄 Listen below! 👇

Did any Expedition 33 review use the strapline 'gommage fray'?

Unbelievable result. Next challenge: winning a draft with spicier picks.

That's Bionic Bay bested. Some proper jaw-clenching eye of the needle platforming in places, but generally a great time. Introduces a mechanic in the last couple of levels I'd liked to have played with for longer, but better that than anything outstaying its welcome.

Promise Mascot Agency is such a needed change of pace after Blue Prince - just progress, progress, progress all the time. You can't move but for achieving some tiny bump in fortunes. And what a cast of characters. Brims with life. Absolutely terrific.

I love that my dentist's WiFi password is 'teethtime'.

Pope Francis is the first pontiff since John Paul I in the 1970s to fail to oversee the release of a mainline Shrek.

I like to imagine the nighttime overworld themes in Xenoblade are more chill because the orchestra are tired from absolutely caning it in the daytime theme.

Spoilers. Jeez.

No way I'm firing a laser in my eye to see fuckin' turquoise.

Amazon really need to bin off Rings of Power and invest a bit more in pushing Wheel of Time. Growing stronger by the season with a cast finding its feet. Some great high concept standalone episodes too - feels like it takes bigger, weirder swings than other fantasy shows.

Wrote some riddles to really annoy your family this Easter

Our lot at We Are Reach are up for creative content partner of the year - a dry way of saying we make lots of fun stuff for lots of neat games. Go us! mcvuk.com/business-new...

Because I'm too polite to dunk on podcast guests, I just let Samuel give Dave both barrels throughout the 360 draft, while I cackle in the background like Salacious Crumb.

Dusting this one off.

Otherwise brilliant replay of Metroid Prime dragged down by that final room climb with the fusion metroids. Dreadful.

When you hear my hurried thoughts you'll understand why I'm a magazine man at heart (need more time to digest!), but I hopefully convey the important point: had a huge amount of fun with what I played, and Switch 2 itself is a welcome iteration.

After four hours, Switch 2 is Castle approved.

Time to relisten to Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, apropos of nothing.

Facebook served me a happy memory. 17 years ago today, I was eating a massive cake. (17 years ago on *any* day, I was probably eating a massive cake.)

That mortifying moment when you're sweating through a lunchtime walk and bump into your podcast co-host going for his much healthier-looking stroll.
