If I ran Disney, I would absolutely pull a "Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie" and approve this for production, at the very least as a Disney+ movie.

New "Mr. Coat" episode, predicting what will win at the Oscars, including how many awards "Anora" could take home and if "Emilia Perez" will end up with a few trophies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZBs...

Everyone buying a ticket to this week's new horror movie:

Looking at the 1949 film noir "Too Late from Tears", from the director of Disney's "Treasure Island" and the creator of "The Fugitive" www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CJ2...

I have long admired how the Broccoli family made it possible for each new James Bond movie to feel like an event, so it's going to be strange having him suddenly under corporate ownership where they will decide to do who knows what with him.

There should be widespread global outrage over this and a demand that a new proper government be put in place in Palestine, one with laws against kidnappings and murder. The road to peace starts with having actual leaderships that want to help their citizens. www.cnn.com/2025/02/20/m...

It's been exciting revisiting the "Hunger Games" movies again, even if "Mockingjay Part 2" was surprisingly duller than I remembered. letterboxd.com/mrcoat/film/...

Isn't this a used video game store? What is he even babbling about?

On whether the release order of DreamWorks Animation's early movies played a role in the studio's reputation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRKa...

Surprised Spielberg's next summer movie wasn't automatically in June. E.T. and Jurassic Park even opened on June 11, so that's a good week for Spielberg. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

I have gone from thinking "Emilia Perez will probably win a bunch of Oscars" to "the Tweets have hurt its chances" to "maybe the Tweets won't matter" in the span of a couple of weeks. This has been one wild Oscar season.

I know Alvin the Chipmunk has seen "Pink Flamingos", but I wonder if he saw the rest of John Water's Trash Trilogy and what his favourite was. letterboxd.com/mrcoat/film/...

J.K. Rowling keeps picking a fight with David Tennant, one of the most beloved actors to ever play an iconic British television character. Who is she going to go after next? Wallace and Gromit?

My review of "The Monkey", which gives us a bonkers horror comedy with Osgood Perkins putting together all kinds of wild death scenes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PJi...

I wrote about this elsewhere, but this is what MAGA/nazism/fascism/etc. eventually devolves into. After they've attacked every marginalized group and the environment, it will then come down to "being nice to others IS BAD". They are cartoon ultravillains. Evil devil creatures snarling "HAAAAATE!"

Something unusual I noticed today: The Oscar-winning movie "Boys Don't Cry" is suddenly unavailable everywhere. Either Searchlight/Disney has lost the rights or some music rights issues have popped up.

New "Mr. Coat" episode, on the history of Universal's specialty film unit Focus Features, which has released several Best Picture nominees, some Edgar Wright movies and a few stop-motion delights from Laika: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-KZ...

A number of documentaries are deservingly called important and I think "The Thin Blue Line" is one of the most important. How many docs can say they helped free a wrongly convicted person from a life in prison? letterboxd.com/mrcoat/film/...

I think it should be our duty to ask "What are you, five?" whenever someone unironically uses the word "slop" in a film review.

On what if Paramount had bought DreamWorks Animation in the early 2010s: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9afv...

My review of "Captain America: Brave New World", which gives us the standard Marvel action movie, along with some intriguing political subtext: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kk_...

There's something really funny to me about Ebert going "You only like this movie, because your wife had a baby!" to Siskel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM32...

My review of "Paddington in Peru", another delightful adventure with that marmalade-loving bear and the Brown family: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUxB...

Instead of cowering to Trump, maybe Bob Iger should grow a spine and let the animators make a sequel to "Der Fuehrer's Face."

Surprised Universal hasn't uploaded the entire "Popular" musical number on YouTube yet, for both the views and as part of Ariana Grande's awards campaign.

Looking forward to Conan bringing this kind of silliness and comedic energy to the Oscars. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh5u...

I think what the world could use right now is a new season of "Animaniacs" where the Warner Siblings mess with Elon Musk, trick David Zaslav into releasing the completed movies he wrote off and stick up for trans people. Also, Pinky and the Brain take control of TikTok.

We're now at the point of tonight's #AnnieAwards where if the category has either "Arcane" or "The Wild Robot" nominated, you know what's winning.

I feel like "The Wild Robot" will win a lot of #AnnieAwards tonight. Already won two and I assume more are on the way.
