Specifically is there an 'in-lore' reason why #doctorwho never gives us companions from other historical periods? Does the doctor sometimes take ancient Babylonians or whatever in the tardis and we aren't shown those stories? Or does he have to take humans from a culture that can understand him?

Interesting thread, with a personal story: one of my uncles is a gay lifelong bachelor with a dry sense of humour. I confessed to him when staying with him that I'd never seen SOM, because it was on TV. He said grandly, "Ah, you MUST see it then!" and clicked the remote over to the channel./

Last night I loaded up Dredd, 2012, and just watched for the slow mo bits near the beginning and then fast-forwarded all the way to the slow mo bit at the end. Then I dreamt that the middle of the movie included extremely accurate predictions - naming names, (putin, trump) - of USA politics today
