What determines "right" in this context? Is it grad students?

No. It wouldn't. Bags of hacks on top of the manure don't make the manure any better.

I got into a conversation about the themes of country music over time. I insisted it provide citations. It made up a long list of plausible lies.

You're the second person in a week to tell me this, but I've never seen an example in real life. Gemini and OpenAI's models are hot garbage, but maybe you have a link?

It emits plausible nonsense that sounds like someone "laying out their reasoning". If you know stats well, then you know how large language models work, yet you're still susceptible to them.

Like 99% of what's written about gen AI, that article is silly. There are no concepts of "behavior" or "agreement" or "truth" in any of these models. They're just following a vector through a space of likely next tokens.

If you have any time to yourself, rent a car and get out of town. There's a spectacular arboreal center, and lots of natural beauty and wildlife.

I don't think the controllers are implicated in this crash. The helo said "will maintain visual separation" but did not have the accident regional jet in sight.

But, like, M*A*S*H and All in the Family weren't built around some central core mystery.

So I'm left dissatisfied and tense, and not with the pleasurable tension of season 1. And that's why I'm not going to watch it anymore.

So there cannot be a good story, with a beginning, middle, and end. There cannot be a character arc. Sure, the characters change, grow, learn things. But the storytellers can't commit to any particular direction or purpose.

Because of the financial/production structure of Apple TV, they don't know in advance how many seasons they're going to do. And they didn't have the nous to simply make a single story that lasted for 8 or 9 episodes.

I truly loved season 1; it was one of my favorite seasons of television, ever. And I really enjoyed the first episode of season 2. But...
