Last night, I was booking a complicated set of plane tickets for a 2-client business trip. The checkout page threw up an error and forced me to refresh, AND THE TICKET PRICE HAD INCREASED $1200. 😡 I spent the next 3 hours with a VPN, diff browser, and incognito mode to get a decent price.

So now that folks see how important elections are as 1 of the tools of our democracy, some questions: - do you know when your next LOCAL election is? - are you registered to vote? - do you know who your local officials are? - do you have a plan to vote? - have you talked to your folks about voting?

Target has felt for years like it’s going the way of K-Mart. It was an easy choice to continue more formally what had already been a partial “boycott” of their total mediocrity.

When the low is 6F and your 103 year old house doesn’t have central heat, you slow roast veggies to get the kitchen temp above 55. 😂

Keep calling. Do more if you can, but keep calling at the very least. You already splintered some of their support away with one week of focused calling and demonstration woven together. What can you do with two weeks of it, with a month, with months on end, if we were relentless?

I realized today that Trump, Musk, DOGE, Vance, Miller, Vought and their many collaborators have broken so many laws already that they know they have to destroy our government and entire way of life to stay out of jail. This is all or nothing. We should respond accordingly.

I cannot even imagine the horror I would be feeling right now if Dan’s (super weird, paternalistic white savior Trumpy) opponent had won AG.

The best thing I’ve read today: statuskuo.substack.com/p/is-somebod...

“In the doses we can process, fear is a vaccine. It inoculates against shock. Don’t reject it entirely and repeat the shock of its introduction to your system over and over again. Don’t accept so much of it that it overwhelms and metastasizes within you.“

Senator Andy Kim just went to the USAID building, talked to the security guard there to confirm employees are being barred entry, and then did a press gaggle right there in front to call it out. This is doing something. This is making an effort on messaging. Other Democratic lawmakers: take notes.

Anyone emphasizing the need to "reach across the aisle" or "find common ground" right now is really saying "my privilege protects me from the danger you are facing", whether they know that or not. The inability to be self-aware by most people in power right now is so demoralizing to so many of us.

Seen on my news and academic feeds today: "This is highly illegal!" "Where are the courts?" "Someone needs to arrest him/them!" "The military needs to oust them!" "WHERE ARE THE DEMS?" This is the denial stage of grief. None of the above institutions are coming to save us. We are all we've got.

These are the same picture.

This should be 25th amendment level conduct. The president ordered water to be released from a random dam in California nowhere near the wildfires and then claimed it would help. That’s literally Mad King behavior.

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

It’s not enough to tell your trans friends you’re thinking of them right now, it is only enough to tell them we will all die in this fire fighting together if we have to because there is no world worth living in without them.

This is a helpful timeline if you’re talking to anyone blaming Black and brown people for the crash.
