At least the cake was out of the oven before the power went off. The wind has died down a bit, so I don't know why. (Unlike the time a big tractor with a wide mower attached rounded a corner in the middle of the village, caught a cable on a house wall, and blacked out half the village for hours).

There's something so "Sunday Morning" about hand-grinding coffee coarse enough for my vintage percolator and listening to Cerys Matthews on 6 Music, while an impromptu cake, slung together as an experiment, bakes.

Mick Lynch wants a progressive wealth tax with the richest paying the same as everyone else on PAYE, 47%. That would bring in hundred of billions, it is time for the richest to pay what everyone else has been paying their whole lives.

I really recommend this book. Looking forward to the next one!

I wasn't far out on the date of my needlecraft book: it's 1935.

Today's Kelso book purchases from a lovely book shop and an antique shop (where I also had a go on a Hohner Pokerwork one-row, but sensibly respected my (fast depleting) bank balance

Sun was out, and the 1st farmers' market of the year at Kelso market place, so I thought it would be nice to have a run out. Relatively few stalls, but I still spent plenty, snf found a book I was wanting in the nearby book shop. 📷📷📷 my own.

Going old-school this morning...

Pretty much! 🤣

Donald Trump’s lies about Ukraine are dangerous. Calling Zelensky a dictator and blaming him for the war is disgraceful, even for him. In Keir Starmer’s upcoming talks with Trump, he must show real leadership by standing up to Trump, and standing for Ukraine. 38d.gs/StarmerUkrai...

🚨 Police search for Nigel Farage who hasn’t been interviewed on TV for no good reason or padding out a panel on BBCQT in days.. No newspaper columns or rallies with farmers cosplaying one..🤷🏼‍♂️ Rumours circulate he’s flying to US to get fresh orders from Trump on Phase 2 of “Operation Shaft Allies”👀

If Russia invaded Alaska, what would you call a US president who "made a deal" to prevent war by allowing Russia to annex the state and occupy the 730,000 Americans living there?

It's nice how just spending an hour in the garden - putting up a couple of bird boxes and doing a bit of replanting and light pruning - can really make you feel better in general. I'm a great believer in getting my hands into the soil without gloves.

Shared again, just because...

So much this!

Here I sit in a cold portacabin, hoping my tyre pressure issue can be sorted. There's a heater on, but it doesn’t seem to be doing much. (I was heading out for a dance session, so I'm not really dressed for this...)

She didn't wake up, even when my pilates teacher/masseuse turned up to pummel me, and put the couch up right next to where she was...

It's nice when there's a twice monthly folk session 100yds from my house, and I can have a whisky or two, because I'm not driving. Just need more people to come and play - I'm the only one from our village: others come from the surrounding area, and don't always turn up.

I like these a lot.

First pilates class for 3 weeks, due to teacher's hols and hall availability. I hurt. I'll hurt more tomorrow.

The cat's not the only one capable of making biscuits.

I slather my cottage pies with parmesan, pre oven...

It's that sort of afternoon... Fire lit, bread made, coffee in hand, rugby on.
