Sadly, it didn't work for me... Reaction & review later.

#NowWatching: THE MONKEY I'm warm on Osgood Perkins' filmography & I don't know what to think of all the feedback so far - some platforms are quite positive, others the complete opposite. Hence, I'm going in blind & with no expectations. Just hope I fall on the positive side.

It's ironic to see someone who is openly not a fan of a particular genre talk endlessly about the respective movies. Like, a new release may have come out a full month ago & they're still trying to bring it down. Move the f*** on, buddy.

With one episode left to go, #DragonBallDaima fulfills Akira Toriyama's primary wish: a final adventure spread across 20 chapters of cute yet powerful storytelling, gorgeous animation, long-awaited canon additions & the feeling of being a kid once again. Anime misses you, Sensei.

I have only seen 4 Best Picture nominees. Release dates have been particularly tough for me this past few months, only getting most of them now. I'll definitely prioritize The Brutalist, Anora, and A Complete Unknown, although I'm equally interested in I'm Still Here.

ONE OF THEM DAYS is a lively buddy comedy that thrives on the palpable chemistry between Keke Palmer & SZA. Their effortless dynamics elevate this one-day chaotic ride, which blends humor with themes of friendship, gentrification & socio-economic struggles. See it! #OneOfThemDays

#NowWatching: ONE OF THEM DAYS Per early voting, it was the clear winner, so here I am. Don't know anything about this except that it got really good reviews.

Which film should I catch up with today?

Finally caught up with SILO. This is so my thing: intriguing characters, brilliant twists, outstanding world-building, exceptional performances - Rebecca Ferguson is absolutely phenomenal - and a fantastic mix of distinct genres. Mysteriously captivating throughout. See it! #Silo

It's quite interesting when people say something like "how does X not have an Oscar yet?!" without considering the fact that maybe (just maybe) in the years they supposedly deserved said Oscar, there was someone even better?

It's that time of the year to say that I don't believe it's healthy to watch 5/6+ films daily in the span of a week at a festival. There's just no way you have time to eat, sleep & talk to people properly. And if you can't do these, then what's the point?

YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN is utterly phenomenal! Gorgeous animation, compelling storytelling, thorough character arcs, entertaining action, awesome score & remarkable vocal performances all culminate in a brilliant finale. See it! #YourFriendlyNeighborhoodSpiderMan

After rewatching #Daredevil's first two seasons, it's finally time for my first-time viewing S3. What's the general consensus on the ranking of the seasons? Is there one that clearly stands out over the others? How does S3 compare to the other two?

Late, I know, but arrived nonetheless! Here's my solidly positive review of #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld. https://movieswetextedabout.com/captain-america-brave-new-world-review-anthony-mackie-deserves-to-wield-the-shield/

Indoor styling question: my new apartment has a light wood floor & white walls. Which color combo would fit this setting for the sofa, dining table, center table, etc? Please advise 🙏

CLEANER is merely another Die Hard rip-off but with Daisy Ridley as a badass window cleaner & an interesting thematic layer about extreme activism. Decent entertainment levels & commendable dedication to stunt work. Formulaic as hell, but enjoyable nonetheless. See it! #Cleaner

#NowWatching: CLEANER An action thriller starring the one & only Daisy Ridley, directed by Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, Casino Royale) & around 90 minutes long? Don't mind if I do.

Here come the ridiculously exaggerated, clickbaity comparisons between a blatantly terrible film like Madame Web & a new release that people aren't enjoying as much as they wanted to, but that's not extreme enough for social media reactions. #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld

Wait, wait, wait. Are (some) people actually disliking #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld because they believe is pro-Trump or some political shit? Oh for f... sake.

Why do people who give 2/5 or 2.5/5 to films act as if they just saw the worst movie of the past decade? It's strange to see only extreme negativity from people who, apparently, just "didn't quite like it". Why not share what the movie did right too?

The themes presented in #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld are all interesting. Responsibility & power of a symbolic, inspirational role. Redemption. The complexity of criminal justice. Legacy & race. It's just a shame it stays surface-level. Lacks the title's courage & novelty.

Here's my 35th update on my MCU ranking. #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld

Are the fanatics who could not shut up about this happy now? #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld

Say what you want about #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld, but if there's one thing this movie proves, without a shadow of a doubt, is that Anthony Mackie / Sam Wilson is the right person to wield the shield. He *is* Captain America, whether you like the film or not.

I will say this about #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld post-credit scene: it's not a case of whether it makes sense or if it's interesting or not... it's just that it reiterates what other post-credits scenes did... at the beginning of the Multiverse Saga...

It's like CinemaSins... but seriously. Like, the channel does it for the sake of parody. But some people genuinely believe that, say, a guy wearing jeans in a Pirates of the Caribbean flick or a Starbucks cup in Game of Thrones actually means the film/show is awful.

This idea that in a franchise / saga / cinematic universe / whatever, everything - and I mean, *everything* - must be referenced in the next couple of films otherwise it inherently means "they don't know what they're doing" is of one the many terrible traits of fandoms.

Not trying to be Marvel's advocate here, but I wouldn't blindly trust the words of a single crew member, especially when there are news of others denying said statements. Again, not trying to defend anyone here, everything may be true, not saying the opposite.

In the end, all I want to say is: go see it for yourself & don't let early reactions affect your expectations too much. Just go in as blind as possible & try to enjoy the ride. #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld

There's this negative vibe surrounding the MCU for a while that I believe is making some people just anxious to trash the next Marvel project without thinking twice. #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld is *very* far from being a "bad film", let alone deserving of all this divisiveness.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD clears all doubts about Sam Wilson / Anthony Mackie being the right hero to pick up the shield. An admittedly messy yet captivating story about the power of responsibility, legacy & personal identity. I enjoyed it! #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld

I really need to start a new podcast...

THE GORGE may not be a revolution in this genre blend, but it stands out for its stylish execution, imaginative creature design & engaging chemistry between its leads. Scott Derrickson once again proves his talent for balancing action, suspense & emotion. Pretty good! #TheGorge

Honestly? I feel like some people cannot wait to trash the next MCU project because "it's cool" to do that now. This was perfectly fine & I'm surprised at the overall divisive reception. Full reaction & review later... but I enjoyed it!
