Going to try out taiko, try to learn ikebana formally and maybe even take up chado. Also start actually practicing at a temple again. I need to be back in a sangha.

It's really, really funny how similar Trump and Job Trunicht are, now when do we get our Miracle Yang?

Went to a matsuri today. Lots of fun. Lots of taiko (I love taiko) and traditional dance. Saw some really nice ikebana that a local club brought out.

I think one of the worst things the internet has enabled is ever greater categorization at ever finer grains. As someone who's job involves categories, there really is a point where you are wasting your time in the details.

"Leopards's eating faces" and "FAFO" are just sayings embodying the American sado-cruelty for people who watch Apple TV+ shows and "vote blue". That entire culture is based on spite and sadism. Dreadful place.

I think I hate Americans. I can barely talk to my friends and family anymore because of their utterly limited and curtailed imaginations.

It's funny seeing everyone get soured on e-dating. I didn't trust it or engage with it back when well, we called it e-dating. Always ahead of the curve.

Okay Macross 7 introduced Sivil, who must have been engineered to hook weirdos like myself. She is so freaking cool.

Late to the party by like, 30 years, but Breath of Fire is really good.

Personally, if I was the wealthiest person on Earth I would spend it on Evangelion and Ghibli cels and Miyazaki and Toriyama sketches and a museum and well-paid staff to take care of all of it. Also buy up archaeological sites on private land and hand em over to the descendant communities.

Making kabocha niimono and iridofu while having a nice port. Good news on the ol' project front too. Shame academia doesn't care much about CRM publications because I have a lot coming.

Certainly a mistake to take a multivitamin on an empty stomach with nothing but coffee.

Lao Gan Ma worked with tempeh, but I still swear the only way tempeh is truly good is with a nice fresh sambal. It just doesn't work outside its own cuisine.

More obscure Leiji Matsumoto. This is 聖凡人伝. My Japanese is about that of a kindergartner but I think it translates roughly as "The Tale of the Saint and the Ordinary Man" or the "The Holy Life of Ordinary People". I cannot find a source on this one in English.

The SCA seems really like, I dunno get a lot of creep vibes out of people I have met involved in it. Of course the anime cons in this town are even worse. Like, it seems other places have so much better, panels and such. Ours are "some weirdo talks about how hot MHA girls are" and "hentai panel".

Good walk today. Some lovely homes in this neighborhood.

Kinda glad I am single today because it has been a long week and I have slept maybe 24 hours since Monday. Going to be exhausted tonight.

Entering the Anime Pure Land in the Weird Vehicle (learning about Ranma 1/2 and checking out the manga at the library after playing some RPGs). Avoided getting into it with Sailor Moon, DBZ and Pokémon and ended up with the touchstones of the people a decade older than me. And digital fansubs.

Love watching "Check it Out with Dr. Steve Brule" between 0430-0500, the time slot it has within the internal continuity.

The bougie white grocery store does not know the difference between kabocha and delicata. They aren't even the same species!

First edition Leiji Matsumotos. Left is (my Japanese is rudimentary, so don't quote this translation) "A Tiny Four and a Half Tatami on the Great Plains" and right is, as on the cover "Machiners".

Sometimes I wonder if, despite millions of people living in this city, if I do have the most extensive Mohiro Kitoh collection in town.

Dang, Macross 7 looks even better when it isn't a sub-480p fansub on a low end 1224×768 monitor in 2005. Never thought I would see the day.
