If you were born after 1970, are living in Waterloo region, and only have one dose of Measles vaccine, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor about getting a second dose. www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/health-an...

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Three Yale professors who have written extensively on authoritarianism are leaving the U.S. “We’re like people on the Titanic saying our ship can’t sink,” Marci Shore said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”

Great story on 60 Minutes last night. They made lemonade from lemons. Glad they had veterans that helped the students perform. #EDUsky www.cbsnews.com/video/marine...

Our knowledge may not be primitive, but sometimes it's silly. A silly little story about Nanaboozho and the artichokes, what you may know as sunchokes or Jersusalem artichokes that aren't actually from Jerusalem at all. www.thousandworlds.ca/nanaboozho-a...

If you use active learning techniques (like Think/Pair/Share, Jigsaw, Gallery Walk, etc.), I highly recommend visiting the Accessible Active Learning website for ideas about how to make these activities more accessible. blogs.ubc.ca/accessibleac... #HigherEd #FacDev #EdDev #EduSky #AcademicSky

I can't stand bullies. President Zelensky is now trying to stand up against two of them. We should have his back. #SlavaUkraïni

Here’s how to vote in Ontario. You don’t need a voter card, just government ID with your address on it. www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in...

I'm *giving away* a signed copy of THE MAGIC WORDS. To enter the drawing, just leave a comment or like/share this post so I know you're real. ❤️ I hope these poetry prompts help you unlock your creativity! (I'll enter your name twice if you tag someone else who might benefit from this resource.)

In the last Ontario election, more than 6 million eligible voters did not vote. That’s 6 million voices missing from the conversation about our province’s future. Advanced polling happens today and tomorrow. Please make sure your voice is heard. www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in...

Pierre Poilievre backed Harper’s war on science—firing 2,000 scientists, slashing research, muzzling experts & gutting climate monitoring by 70%. Scientific output plummeted, media coverage dropped 80%, & Canada was globally shamed. Conservatism is ignorance. #cdnpoli www.votewell.ca

If you haven't had a chance to hear me talk about Moon of the Turning Leaves yet, there's a free online event happening tomorrow (Tuesday) evening that'll be streamed to libraries across Turtle Island. Here's a link with more details: libraryc.org/midlandlibra...

Getting ready to start the journey that is #NBE3U with my students this week and definitely feeling the power of "i am graffiti" to begin anew. It somehow hits different in today's context. #TRCCallstoAction #teachlivingpoets #PoetryinVoiceCanada youtu.be/dkUKsy8u7ec?...

Warning: the same corporations who took advantage of the pandemic to raise prices will also likely take advantage of the tariffs to raise prices. Now, more than ever, we will need to support those who are struggling.

Thank you #CBCIdeas for the thoughtful podcast yesterday. So many great quotes to ponder including this one: "sometimes caring for shared life means it's okay to not engage, and 'passing by' should never be confused for disengagement" www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas/...

"It’s an important reminder to all of us that surviving the classroom by teaching to only those students who appear to care is a surefire way to alienate others who really do." Someone make this a required poster in all classrooms.

Updated my High School English Teachers Starter Pack: go.bsky.app/K5zShyD Note that I am *not* a High School English Teacher, but I can't remove my userpic from the thumbnail image, sorry. #EduSky

Of all the kids in the child ‘welfare’ system in Canada, 53.7% are Indigenous children despite being only 7.7% of the total number of children in Canada. In Manitoba, Indigenous kids are 90% of all children in child welfare. In Alberta it’s 70%.

Inspired by my daughter's recent painting projects. It has been amazing to watch her interest in birds impact her burgeoning artistic endeavors. This is the almost complete first in a set of 3 she aims to complete before Christmas -age 13 #birds #art #larrytheloon #proudmom

I'm the process of updating some old materials. If anyone is interested here's an infographic I made a long time ago now on 'flowers of rhetoric'. You can download the PDF here: jwed.co.uk/2020/02/13/f... #edusky

Hey #EduSky folks from #OntEd:

I am loving teaching #NBE for the first time ever this year. Every day I am honoured and humbled to work with students as we engage with Indigenous voices across many forms of literature. Are there any other #ONEd teachers here in #EduSky teaching #NBE this semester?
