Just saw Heidegger's Being and Time referred to as "early philosophy" in a (otherwise great, I should say!) qual methods paper. Heraclitus and Confucius would like a word, lads. 😂

McDonald's is overturning council attempts to prevent new fast food outlets by claiming they will encourage healthier lifestyles, reveals a BMJ investigation. It shows the firm has won planning appeals in some of the most deprived areas of England www.bmj.com/content/388/...

This person does great work and as a bonus is very funny. Go give her site a look.

1. This looks like a VERY interesting event! 2. Follow UCC Radical Humanities Lab @radhumslab.bsky.social!

Oh hey! My book is already on Amazon, I did not know! Look how pretty! If you are a person who still uses Amazon, will you please consider pre-ordering? It's cheap, and it really helps with the algorithm and with my ability to promote the book. I hate to push my own stuff but I would be so grateful!

A reminder that in 2010 the Bloody Sunday inquiry found - the killings were unjustified - none of the 14 dead (7 of whom were children) had guns - no warnings were given - no soldiers were under threat - the troops were the first to open fire 43 years on, we await the first prosecution.

Yet another Novo-funded study 😩 Public health continues to legitimise partnerships with pharma in the area of obesity Business as usual - let's just ignore the evidence & look the other way #COI #CDoH #CorporatePlaybook #WebOfInfluence health-policy-systems.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....

I believe there's a joke about Socrates, but I don't know it.

And not just art. Education and research of every kind as well. It is not possible to use genAI ethically. It might be some day but it's not now.

I'm happy to see openai and other companies of that ilk suffer, but good to remember that just because there's now a much cheaper version, doesn't mean using generative AI still isn't a shitty act of creative theft that fucks over anyone who makes or enjoys art

📢 Our flagship Broken Plate will be published this week! It looks at the trends impacting the UK's food system and the actions needed from policymakers to ensure everyone can afford healthy and sustainable food. 👀 Keep an eye out on our socials for more... #BrokenPlate

To be honest, I love Bluesky, but you wouldn't be able for the Americans sometimes, sure you wouldn't?

Interestingly, today is the most depressed I've felt in ages, so maybe that Scandinavian ad exec that invented the "most depressing day of the year" thing had a point. #science

We just published a paper on what the new NATIONAL DATA LIBRARY should look like. It's very readable! Lots on: accountability.. federated analytics.. code.. modular tools.. Thanks to @wellcometrust and @ESRC who ran a competition for these papers! zenodo.org/records/1467...

Impressive bit of research Equally or more impressive shift in population sugar exposure

Absolutely farce with the Independent TG being basically allowed to be government and opposition at the same time. Verona Murphy is unfit for role of Ceann Comhairle. Profoundly anti-democratic stuff, enabled by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael

Welcome @brittakm.bsky.social to Bluesky! Well worth a follow for public health and #cdoh folks 😊

I'm lucky enough to be able to walk to work. Lately I've been going out of my way so I can cross at the pedestrian crossing because people are driving SO dangerously it's scary trying to cross busy roads. We have to create more viable public transport options in Ireland. This is insane like.
