I’ve played and worked with computers basically all my life. From the Sinclair Spectrum, through lots of generations of PC, Macs of all cpu types, through today to huge 16 socket Xeon monsters with 32 TB of RAM.

So I bought a cheap pc, with an m.2 slot. The slot is keyed for nvme m.2. Luckily I have two 👍 Neither work 👎. The manufacturer hasn’t been able - in a week of exchanges - to answer “nvme or sata?” So I bought a sata m.2. Works perfectly, despite the keying being wrong 👍👎🤦‍♂️. Buy cheap, get cheap
