Sending an email to employees asking them to list five things they did that week is a classic move from a manager who has no idea how to manage

The older I get, the more I appreciate the concept of "IQ." Whenever someone seriously mentions the importance of IQ, I know I can shut my brain off because nothing they say is worth thinking about. It's so convenient!

I will use every tool at my disposal to protect this country from Trump. I will litigate to defend voting rights until there are no cases left to bring. I will speak out against authoritarianism until my last breath. I will not back down. I will not bow or scrape. I will never obey.

Nobody is gonna do shit about shit and the people are gonna have to start demanding accountability. Otherwise there’s just gonna be a lot of finger pointing as the world burns…

New: DOGE's spending has been secret. No longer. My colleagues have uncovered it. www.propublica.org/article/doge...

Why are Democrats so afraid to exercise legitimate power in the face of illegitimate overreach?!

Dems are doing things!

I appreciate everyone’s messages of support, I’m trying to get through all my mentions but as you can imagine, it’s been a bit of a busy day :) Remember - peaceful civil disobedience, and no kings, no tyrants. Not ever.

One way I’ve found to HELP understand the modern situation is as the culmination of a long, slow breakdown of the idea that ANY position of power entails duties and obligations instead of just raw authority and privilege.

“the United States is not a startup. The federal government exists to do all of the things that are definitionally not profitable, that serve the public good rather than protect investor profits. (The vast majority of startups also fail, something the United States cannot afford to do.)”

Everytime you read one of these stories--and they've become daily now--remember that there are some functions that are just as critical but don't make obvious headlines. Nukes! Bird Flu! ATCs! But food inspectors are probably the same--and they're not being recalled. and so on.

who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE WHO IS THE ADMINISTRATOR OF DOGE???????

As a person with an advanced degree and experience using LLMs, I can tell you that I am not concerned this is true at all. I am, however, VERY concerned that people will believe it’s true and cause a lot of problems by acting accordingly.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

We need to, collectively, come around to the idea that fighting back will entail sacrifice. You don’t roll over in the interest of easy career transitions for the team. You make them kick you out, scream on your way out, and deal with the consequences of doing the right thing in the morning.

This is the media literally capitulating on the first amendment out of concern that the administration might want them to fight for the first amendment is so epically disheartening. I am beside myself here with the supposed “logic”

obviously this is terrible for democracy and the rule of law in America but I'm also offended on behalf of the prisoner's dilemma
