This week, Democrats got it done for our public schools. After House Democrats killed a “school choice” bill earlier in the week, Senate Democrats passed a bill allowing the legislature to properly fund our schools! Even when inflation was higher, education budgets couldn’t be increased more than 3%

HB 245, the bill renewing Medicaid expansion, is one more step closer to passing! Every Democratic Senator voted yes. Thank you to the Republican Senators who joined us in doing the right thing!

Less than 100 tickets left for our annual Mansfield Metcalf Celebration, featuring Governor Tim Walz! Get your tickets NOW so you don’t miss out!

A bill promoting “school choice” off taxpayers’ backs has been killed! HB320 would have provided over $3,500 in tax credits to private & religious school parents. Public school parents aren’t eligible for the credit. Thank you to the legislators who voted yes and our public school advocates!

If you’re like us, you’ve been thinking of those warm summer days to get you through this latest dump of snow. Unfortunately, Donald Trump and Elon Musk don’t get Montana summers the way we do. Their reckless federal layoffs will detrimentally impact the quality of our recreation this summer.

Montana, we need your help. After many bills have been seen regarding Medicaid expansion, HB 245 seems to be the favorite and is heading to the Senate floor for a final vote. Write your senators and urge them to vote yes on HB 245! Medicaid matters.

Addressing the legislature, the all-Republican delegation ignored hundreds of Montanans who lost their jobs. 360 Forest Service workers were laid off thanks to Trump administration cuts. Now, federal workers across Montana anxiously wait to find out what federal agency is next on the chopping block.

We know it can be intimidating to get involved, trust us. We're here to make it simple. We break bills down so that you can submit testimony in less than 20 minutes. Join our legislative action team and make a difference this session! Sign up here: docs.google.com/forms/d/10xX...

Gov. Gianforte has millions of dollars that could otherwise be spent on property tax relief, funding public schools, & making life affordable for Montanans. There is zero accountability & oversight over this massive pot of money & Montanans deserve more transparency on how tax dollars spent.

Join us for our biggest night of the year! We are honored to announce that Governor Tim Walz will be our keynote speaker. Meet us in Helena on March 1st for dinner, drinks, and the Democratic roadmap forward. Tickets are on sale NOW - you can purchase yours at www.montanademocrats.org/mm25

Montana Democrats have been hard at work this week! Senate Democrats got it done by securing sustainable funding to promote affordable housing – something that affects more and more Montanans. SB 171 will now be seen by the House Appropriations Committee.

Property tax relief isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. As it stands, renters receive no tax benefit, despite rising prices. Sen. Morigeau’s bill, SB 225, would provide an income tax credit to renters making less than $45,000. Thank you Montana Senate Democrats!

Trump & Elon Musk fired over 3,400 Americans yesterday without cause. 360 of them were Montanans. Many were in their first year with USFS. Some were veterans in their 2 year probation. All were because they continued serving when asked to resign. Montanans deserve more than this from their president

Join Gaby and Shannon as they sit down with Sen. Susan Webber for this week’s Blue Bench podcast! They talk all things education in this legislative session, and why “school choice” bills are bad for Montana.

Trump’s funding freeze is costing Montanans money, putting them out of work and refusing them clean water. The funding freeze is a political stunt and Montanans deserve better. Call your representatives and let them know you don’t support the funding freeze.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Montana! We love you and will fight for you every day.

Thank you to Rep. Karlen for sponsoring HB305! HB 05 protects mobile home residents from being taken advantage of by bad-actor landlords. In recent years, mobile home parks have sold for redevelopment or to out-of-state owners who aggressively increase rents & price out tenants with minimal notice.

Straight from the horse's mouth. MTGOP wants to end access to IVF in Montana. IVF is the answer for many people's struggles with infertility, and for some, the only route to have children. MTGOP wants to ban it.

“You’re so funny!” Thanks, we know. But also, we have to fight with these geniuses every day so Montanans can keep their basic rights. #mtpol

Join us for the biggest Democratic party of the year! Meet us in Helena on March 1st for dinner, drinks, and Democratic plans for 2025. Our keynote speaker will be announced soon – and trust us, you don’t want to miss this one. Tickets are available for purchase at the link in below.

Thank you Minority Leader Flowers! More solutions, less bickering. Democrats are hard at work on your behalf this session – for you to have freedom, fairness, and affordability from your government.

The Trump DOJ’s decision regarding birthright citizenship is DANGEROUS and uproots 150 years of precedent. American Indians were here before Christopher Columbus and they will be here after us. Montana Democrats stand with and will continue to protect our Native Montanans.

See Sen. Susan Webber's comments on the floor about SB 114. Putting the 10 Commandments in schools is a violation of the separation of church and state, and will negatively impact all non-Christian Montanans -- especially our Native communities.

The MTGOP is trying to put the 10 Commandments in our schools. Public schools are about EDUCATION not religion. Republicans rejected an amendment to protect Native culture by exempting reservation school districts. Not all Montanans are Christian, our schools shouldn’t be either.

The MTGOP doesn’t listen to voters. Montanans have rejected anti-abortion measures TWICE. Still, HB 316 bill would invade Montanans' privacy, restrict and complicate medical decisions for families, and end access to IVF and other fertility treatments. HB316 is bad for Montana families.

You won’t want to miss this! Shannon & Raph sit down and discuss Republican attempts to politicize & dismantle the independence of our judiciary – and what that would mean for Montanans. They also discuss how listeners can help fight these attacks on the courts. Join us on the Bench this afternoon!

You’ve heard of “Brat Summer”. Can we present “Legislative Spring”? Here’s our ins and outs for this session. Protecting Constitutional rights and lowering the cost of living is cool. We don’t think Republicans have caught on that their agenda is “out” yet…

It’s a good day for Indian Country! SB182 has passed the Senate and heads to the House. SB182 allows tribes to better collaborate on protecting their language and culture. Tribes can also use funding to connect with other states and national groups, while protecting materials for future generations.

80,000 Montanans – families, seniors, students, tribal members – rely on Medicaid expansion for healthcare. Republicans want to end it. Ending Medicaid expansion would not only revoke necessary healthcare, but also lead to the closure of many rural hospitals and destroy the healthcare system.

@kellykortum.bsky.social and MT House Dems are hard at work! A HUGE thanks to the Montanans who showed up to testify. Housing is expensive, and rental application fees don’t help. HB311 will require landlords to refund Montanans their application fee if they do not receive the property.

Don’t let them fool you. MT Republicans are attacking our public schools. HB 320 would provide up to $7,000 in tax credits to private and religious school parents. Public school parents are not eligible. HB 320 is a threat to our struggling education system and Montana public school families.

MEPA (Montana Environmental Policy Act) ensures that our state agencies operate with the environment in mind. After the Held decision, MEPA was affirmed as essential to protecting our environment. Swipe to see the proposed legislative changes!

Join us this week to hear about important bills, how YOU can make a difference, and Democratic wins of the week. Rep. Karlen is joining on Thursday at noon, and Sen. Webber will give her thoughts on Monday at 5:30. Join our legislative action team and register here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Yet again, the MTGOP is trying to invade the constitutional privacy of Montana women. HB 316 would define an embryo or fetus as a person, beginning at conception. This bill is DANGEROUS and would pose a risk for both patients and healthcare providers. Call your legislators!

Having a nonpartisan judiciary keeps political bias out of the courtroom and prevents judges from being bought and bribed by folks with a personal agenda. The MTGOP’s idea to make the judiciary political would dramatically erode the rights of Montanans and the sanctity of our Constitution.

Join Gaby & Shannon as they discuss last week’s events at the legislature and WOW, some important things are happening. They’re joined by House Minority Leader Katie Sullivan who covers Medicaid, housing, the judiciary, and more. Take a seat on the Bench! www.montanademocrats.org/podcast/v/ep....

“Since expansion, more Montana Native Americans report being in good health, more Native American adults are employed, and the share of households with medical debt in majority Native zip codes fell substantially.” dailymontanan.com/2025/01/27/m...

“Senator Daines, Senator Sheehy, Congressman Zinke, and Congressman Downing must stand up to President Trump before this causes irreparable harm to families across the state.”

Rep. Tyson Running Wolf’s bill to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People crisis has advanced in the House. His bill opens a pathway to raise money for faster response times and crucial rescue operations. #mtpol missoulian.com/news/local/i...

“Democrats remain committed to making government work for the people. Extreme Senate Republican leaders? Their record speaks for itself.” –Sen. Pat Flowers ravallirepublic.com/opinion/colu...

This week, we’re recognizing the Roe v. Wade decision’s 52nd anniversary by answering YOUR questions with help from Martha Fuller from @ppadvocatesmt.bsky.social.

“Maybe the Capitol should install fainting couches outside the hearing rooms and smelling-salt dispensers within them to revive “traumatized” women. Because the arguments and conduct of legislators supporting HB 121 truly make you queasy.” missoulian.com/opinion/colu...

Are you concerned about the future of reproductive freedom and access to abortion in Montana? @ppadvocatesmt.bsky.social's Martha Fuller shares her thoughts.

SAVE 👏 MEDICAID 👏 SAVE 👏 LIVES

“If public bathroom safety is truly an issue in Montana — or anywhere — then lawmakers’ case should be self-evident by the rash of media reports and public outcry. But things appear quiet.” dailymontanan.com/2025/01/16/d...

“After public outcry and anger directed at both lawmakers and Gianforte, he turned around blaming local county and city officials across the state for out-of-control spending, despite the fact that most of those same officials are Republicans.” dailymontanan.com/2025/01/23/i...
