Happy 70th birthday to Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside! 🎂 Our 2021 interview: www.stereogum.com/2156880/scri... [📝: @mtedder.bsky.social, 📷: John Swannell]

It can always get dumber.

Wondering if this shirt is still available

Is this bad? Seems bad.

I doubt there's a single undecided voter in NYC who cares what Jim Clyburn thinks but its a good indication of the desperation and "all hands on deck" push coming from the establishment to make sure they rescue Cuomo's incompetent campaign and prevent a progressive from becoming mayor.

Wally West and Kyle Rayner were far more interesting and complex characters than Barry Allen and Hal Jordan, and DC's reversion to the boring 1960s characters was a sign of the pernicious retrograde vibe of the '00s.

i went through the wrong puberty and got denied hrt when i was OVER 18 and like yes i survived but i don’t want anyone to suffer the way i had to suffer. protect trans kids with full-throated support or shut the fuck up

ANTICS is looking for essay pitches. They can be personal remembrances, trend analysis, humor pieces or (and I would welcome this) just the weird ideas no one else would touch. Think Might, Spy, early Spin, MEL, The Cut, that sort of thing. Hit me up at [email protected]

Running a magazine in the year 2025 is weird.

Wait, Fox is a propaganda network that manipulates their mostly elderly audience? Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this?

#NotAllTedders

we opened pitches for ANTICS issue 4 today! we have some interviews already in the works and are mostly seeking essay pitches. think what you would pitch mel mag (rip) if it had a music section! that's what we want. give us your boldest pitches

I, like many of you, am not only devastated but furious at the assassination of two Minnesota lawmakers this morning. This isn’t some isolated tragedy. It’s extremism, it’s fascist violence, and we have to treat it that way. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Everything seems to be going well.

The arrest of Senator Padilla feels like a new low in a world that never seems to have a bottom.

Sly Stone and Brian Wilson in the same week. It's impossible to think of the past 60 years of music without either. I hope they've found the peace that eluded them throughout their lives.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence. They are in charge.

"I Can't Win" The Strokes (2003)

If things don't start calming down soon, the 1975 will have no choice but to drop an updated "Love It If We Made It."

No one can triumphantly lift their mic stand in the air quite like Brendan Yates.

Happy Lifeguard release day to all who celebrate, and happy Turnstile day as well. We're rocking hard this summer, lads.

Sadly, DOGE cut billions of dollars from scientists who were working towards finding a cure for Poster's Disease.

Tonight's vibe:

Tonight! The ANTICS crew will be doing a DJ set w at Fire Talk Shop (67 West St STE 101, Brooklyn, NY 11222), so drop on by starting at 5 for good tunes and good vibes.

Between the great new FX sitcom Adults and the great new Matador indie band Lifeguard dropping around the same time, I feel like I'm watching the second half of this decade snap into focus in real time. (There's plenty of other examples, of course. I'm hoping Mayor Mamdani is one of them.)

This year has given us incredible new albums from Stereolab and Pulp. The louche indie bros have never eaten so well.

The ANTICS crew will be doing a DJ set with a Surprise Special Guest tomorrow at Fire Talk Shop (67 West St STE 101, Brooklyn, NY 11222), so drop on by starting at 5 for good tunes and good vibes.

ANTICS, join the movement!

This piece is amazing and was very helpful when writing my recent @stereogum.bsky.social Album of the Week piece on Lifeguard!

For Stereogum, I wrote about the debut album from Lifeguard, your favorite new band.

A friend of mine from college is looking for help to find her missing son, who was last seen in the OceanView area of Norfolk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(Just the most annoying nerd voice you've ever heard) "I'm sorry, but the year is not over until July, why are all these places posting half-year end lists?" (Every editor in the game takes turns giving me swirlies.)

Post a random photo, otherwise everything goes wrong in June

Charlie Cox feels a little under-stanned, but b/t Daredevil: Born Again and Adults, people are starting to finally come around to his charms.

Happy 25th anniversary to the first Bright Eyes album I ever heard. And wow, did the piano-led version of "A Song To Pass The Time" hit me. www.stereogum.com/2309987/brig...
