I said before that I’m very unimpressed by the current proposed elementary rezoning map. And the fact that the process is now undermining the credibility of the city’s historic new zoning code in some people’s minds further heightens my frustration. dailyprogress.com/news/local/e...

100% agree. No special skills or abilities required to become an elected official other than giving a shit about having a functioning society and being willing to figure out how to make it happen.

I encourage all those in New York City in favor of Congestion Pricing to attend this rally today. Keeping this law in effect benefits so many... the disabled, elderly, those with young children, bicyclists, pedestrians, the environment, reducing pollution & crowded roads, etc. In memory of Robyn!

UVA’s BOV encouraging families to go elsewhere for gender affirming care, apparently blissfully unaware that there is nowhere else to go

Historians please tell me if I’m off base, but this reminds me of the colonization movement of the 1800s, which sought to send free Black Americans to Africa. A strategy to navigate a legally and politically complex situation by trying to shift a group out of society, rather than change the society.

The use of “luxury” in real estate is an incredibly common marketing term used to describe almost any type of housing that’s new or got even just a modest facelift. It’s branding to attract customers, not an official designation requiring specific criteria. dailyprogress.com/news/local/b...

Pleased to report that the resolution passed unanimously and the Human Rights Commission will be preparing a copy to share with the UVA Board of Visitors ahead of their meeting tomorrow morning.

Our focus is on housing and transportation. But we know what every decent person understands: our community is harmed when people are denied the medical care they need. We encourage you to show up to the Rotunda Friday morning to show support for our trans neighbors and the right to healthcare.

“Roem… pointed to Virginia laws that prohibit LGBTQ+ discrimination in ‘places of public accommodation’ — which include publicly funded hospitals such as UVa Health. “‘It’s pretty clear,’ she said.” www.newsfromthestates.com/article/uva-...

My kids have gotten into some games that require quick reflexes to win. I am not winning.

UVA is facing major existential threats but the BOV is deciding to focus its time on whether it should deny healthcare to children dailyprogress.com/news/local/e...

Know someone on the UVa BOV? They meet in the am to discuss gender affirming care & would be great to tell them UVa should provide evidence-based care to all kids & that the docs who‘ve trained their entire life for this should be allowed to treat their patients. p.s. EOs are not the law.

Every reasonable interpretation of UVA’s messaging about this report is that it would provide the public with meaningful information about what happened. Instead they’re apparently removing most of its substance. This is called lying. dailyprogress.com/news/local/e...

Planning for tonight’s meeting was…challenging to say the least because of the weather. But we ended up with 6 people speaking during public comment for housing in Albemarle - 5 county residents plus me. I’m encouraged with that turnout and look forward to more in the future!

At this point, the BOS meeting for today is still happening. We encourage you to be safe, but note that you can provide comment via Zoom. We have more information on the steps to do that in our advocacy guide: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

💀💀💀

Some good news amid the horror. Sally is running for a seat on the Albemarle County (VA) Board of Supervisors. She's super smart about local issues & is also a teacher, the mother of a big family, & a darn good historian. She'll be great in the BOS.
