The President is lying about Social Security as an excuse to gut Social Security after promising not to touch it. Why? To pave the way for more tax cuts for the rich.

What he said about Social Security payments has been repeatedly debunked - so the question isn’t whether he’s lying about this, the question is why. What is this a pretext for? He and the GOP have long shown interest in going after Social Security. What are they going to try?

It's not necessarily the most important part of today's Oval Office debacle, but Vance suggested that Zelenskyy has never thanked the U.S. for its support — and that's demonstrably ridiculous. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Donald Trump is not fit to be President of the United States of America. His presence in the Oval Office is a stain on the legacy of this country.

This new reporting is a very big deal. The previously reported number for the amount of money Elon Musk has gotten from the government—us—was slightly over $18 billion. We now know the figure is $38 billion. When you consider how much of Musk's wealth is actually liquid—very little—that is a ton.

Why am I NOT surprised to see that House Republicans are pushing ahead with their budget plan to cut TRILLIONS from the budget at the expense of American people? CUT Medicaid, CUT food programs for our seniors and children. They’re just looking out for their billionaire buddies.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is the latest federal agency to be hit with DOGE layoffs. That's the same agency that has investigated crashes involving Tesla's self-driving cars. This was never about "efficiency."

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

What the actual fuck with these people!?!

When Trump was sworn in, Elon Musk's corporations were under more than 32 investigations conducted by at least 11 federal agencies. Most of the cases are now closed or likely to be closed soon, and the federal agencies are being defanged by DOGE. Funny how that works, huh?

Hey everyone, it’s a Coup. Name it for what it is. We have a duty to disobey orders that violate law. If the courts say don’t do it, that’s a pretty good indication. Most of us are not being asked to violate law, some are (e.g., financial assistance, Civil Rights and EEO laws). #Resist.

Never forget that Trump was the culmination of 40 years of stagnant wages, widening inequality, corruption, dog-whistle politics, and economic gains for the rich. If we fail to address this, we should expect future Trumps as far as the eye can see.

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 We have no money for Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, to house the homeless and feed the poor, but we have the money for FUCKING STATUES, TRIPS TO THE SUPER BOWL, and GOLF VACATIONS IN MAR-A-LAGO! 😤

A quick search of Cotton’s accounts show that the first time he posted a single word critical of USAID was 5 days ago, despite serving in the Senate for 10 years and the House before that.

More projection from this clown. Just because he couldn’t do it doesn’t mean others can’t. Not every job requires office space.

Chris Murphy: "I think this is the most serious constitutional crisis the country has faced, certainly since Watergate. The president is attempting to seize control of power, and for corrupt purposes ... he's trying to crush his opposition ... this is a red alert moment ... our democracy is at risk"

Musk is specifically, targeting those government agencies that are investigating him for safety violations and ties to Russia. Reminder: he said he would go to prison if Trump didn't win. The irony of his own information system (Grok) providing a list of those violations, is priceless. ⤵️

This is why they're attacking science and education: if you can only win with disinformation, data become a threat.

Let's say there's "waste" and "fraud" in the government. Well that’s why every department had an inspector general to find and stop it. But guess what? Trump fired most of these independent auditors who should be insulated from politics. None of this is about waste and fraud.

Temporary restraining order blocks USAID employees from being put on leave www.nbcnews.com/politics/pol...

Our criminal president is helping his billionaire henchmen torpedo an investigation into his company.

This is what spending $290 million on an election gets you. Money in politics has always corrupted, but it's hardly been this brazen.

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024. You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right? Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year. You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

New in PN: The "cognitively irresponsibility" presidency "Cognitive irresponsibility is a giveaway that a leader is an authoritarian ... they don’t want to have to persuade the nation. They want to make a policy, and when we ask why, they say, 'Because I said so.'"

Trump backers keep declaring that he has a powerful “mandate” from voters. In fact, it’s as feeble a mandate as almost any president has had. Only 31.7% of eligible voters voted for Trump. And of those who voted, only 49.7% voted for him. Yes, he won — but by a historically minuscule margin

1/ OK, Democratic members of Congress in the US Senate. It’s time for some tough love. I am aware your pollsters and consultants tell you things like “the American people want us to work together” and “ focus on prescription drug prices in the economy.”

Hi all, We’re still here at OPM. We have a situation where we MIGHT, and I do mean, MIGHT have four of Elon’s people blocked from the building. Can we get press or a member of Congress down here? We’ve blocked them for two hours and they keep coming back and trying to go in.

Correct. It’s really more of a hijacking than a coup.

Alex Lawson: There are proposals from Republican congress members to cut $2.3 trillion from Medicaid. And let me be clear about what that would do: It would destroy Medicaid. It wouldn't do anything to fight inflation. It wouldn't bring anybody's prices down. It would just steal people's health care

Karoline Leavitt’s only qualification is Trump likes how she looks and lies on TV.

Zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights when Dems were in charge.

Taking away funding for crucial federal programs. Firing independent watchdogs. Enriching the private prison industry. Trump's plan for his second term is to make the wealthiest people in America far wealthier and more powerful — including himself.

All I keep thinking about is the bastard who wants to gut our government so that no government offices, including air traffic control towers, are _ever_ properly staffed. Elon Musk.

Do not let Trump control the narrative of this tragedy. Here are our thoughts.

Glad to be in this space instead on the toxic landfill that has become Twitter and Facebook. Let’s go!!
