There’s been so much insanity in the last few weeks that I’d already started to forget about the crash.

🪐📚 (1/2) So, I decided to finish the Farseer trilogy before moving on to anything else. I just finished Assassin's Apprentice last night. It was excellent. It left me kind of emotionally wrecked, but it was excellent. In all honesty, it took me an hour or two to recover from it. Without being ...

hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...

🪐📚 I'm thinking about rereading Project Hail Mary. But I'm also thinking about rereading In Other Lands. But I'm also thinking about just finishing the Farseer trilogy after I finish Assassin's Apprentice. Not sure what to read next.

(1/2) What I've read this year, so far, in chrono order: 🪐📚 1. Matt Dinniman's "This Inevitable Ruin" (litrpg) 2. Dennis Taylor's "Not Till We Are Lost" (progressive sf) 3. (reread) Goody & Grant "Odd Jobs 2" (urban fantasy)

I'd like to urge my American fans to call their state representatives & strongly advocate against voting for the SAVE Act, which takes voting rights away from millions of people, especially women, minorities, & those in rural areas. Click to learn more: www.brennancenter.org/our-work/ana...

In case you were wondering if US parental leave is as bad as people make it out to be: I’m 40 weeks pregnant (that’s full term!) and still filling out paperwork, fielding daily calls/e-mails from insurance as they decide when and how much to cover me. American maternity leave sucks ass.

Judge rules that Black church in DC, which won a $2.8 million default judgment against the Proud Boys, now gains control over the trademark “Proud Boys.” The far-right group is barred from selling any related merchandise or symbols without the consent of the church. Gift link:

Conservative budget wonks (Manhattan Instiutte, Tax Foundation) confirming that this is a consittutional crisis. Not liberal hysteria. Happening right now.

Because they still have Black History Month in the Federation.

5 ways to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth (cause the fed govt doesn’t run your house) 1. Find out what Sojourner Truth REALLY said 2. Buy a Black horror, scifi or fantasy book 3. Listen to “Naima” by John Coltrane 4. Send the victims of the LA fires in Altadena a few coins 5. Get a library card

Happy #BlackHistoryMonth Feb 1. You know the drill by now. We always kick things off with the Statue of Liberty. Americans look at it every day, and don't even know what its creator and funders intended it to stand for. You can't learn US history from US textbooks, so you get my typos instead.🤷🏿‍♂️

A DEI hire is someone who is qualified to do the job they are in, who simply was not prevented from getting that job for reasons not related to the job, such as race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, etc. DEI means OPPORTUNITY, not preferential treatment and not lower standards.

Fans have created a running list of novels, novellas, and other items eligible to be nominated to win the Hugo Award at the World Science Fiction Convention in Seattle this August. There are 144 or so novels on that list right now, give or take some anthologies. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
