In case you were wondering if US parental leave is as bad as people make it out to be: I’m 40 weeks pregnant (that’s full term!) and still filling out paperwork, fielding daily calls/e-mails from insurance as they decide when and how much to cover me. American maternity leave sucks ass.

A DEI hire is someone who is qualified to do the job they are in, who simply was not prevented from getting that job for reasons not related to the job, such as race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, etc. DEI means OPPORTUNITY, not preferential treatment and not lower standards.
