Age yourself with a movie you saw in the theater

Every time I finish proofing something I get another email with something else to proof. Have I died? Is this purgatory?

You ever find your happiness and sanity reliant on one (1) single thing, and then that thing ends

I often joke that if I die in a plane crash I just hope it's on the way back so at least I got to have my vacation, but I'm going to Denmark and Sweden this spring and for real, if I die it better be on the way home

How y'all sound trying to figure out it's the racism and the eugenics driving the greed:

over at @grindr.bsky.social, i wrote about 7 queer and trans movies to watch instead of EMILIA PÉREZ, from anarchic origin stories to a tunnel into the abyss of nostalgia to satirical millennial meltdowns: www.grindr.com/blog/7-queer...

Gay trees Gay trees Gay trees Gay treeeeees I'm begging of you please just buy my pins canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1813...

I used my irritation about the Emilia Pérez nomination record to talk about 11 trans films released in 2024 worth watching instead. www.slashfilm.com/1770328/why-...

I’m a little confused I don’t see the nominees for Best Trap

"The future of cinema lies in rekindling the necessity of discovery." For this @ebertvoices.bsky.social future of the movies, I wrote about the need to find some way to write about small films and new filmmakers.

PUT $ ON THE BOOKS OF INCARCERATED FIREFIGHTERS There are over 1,000 incarcerated firefighters currently fighting the flames in LA. They get paid $5-$10/day. This is modern day slavery & this practice should be abolished. Until then, send some $ here: bit.ly/FirefighterGI

What a photo.

Last TikTok I watched was an Our Flag Means Death edit, which feels fitting. Two things I wasn't ready to let go of yet

A truly awful day for movies and art, losing one of the most singular and brilliant voices to ever make them. We've unlocked our full David Lynch issue from 2017, which is now entirely free to read. R.I.P. Mr. Lynch, and thank you forever for the work and example you left us.

“We’re supposed to have so much fun, like puppy dogs with our tails wagging”

Anxiety is so fucked because every week I'll be crying and rending my clothes like "I'm the worst at my job, I'm fucking everything up all the time" and then EVERY SINGLE TIME I talk to my boss she's like "thank you so much for everything you're doing, our team is the best"

Good morning

The thing that will make it worth it to get out of bed tomorrow: in an exceptionally good use of PTO, I'm leaving work 2 hours to go see Better Man

I remembered to go outside and look at Mars, and now I'm full of awe and wonder

THE 25 BEST FILMS OF 2024 A video countdown vimeo.com/1046284152

Holding myself accountable for watching Between the Temples and The Substance today. Trying to get to them before that sweet sweet David Ehrlich top 25 video drops tomorrow

On top of this extremely true fact, so many folks working in entertainment were already in the midst of a couple of increasingly rough years of trying to find consistent employment.

My local theater canceling their screenings of Better Man about to be my thirteenth reason

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross win for challengers, as well they should have That’s the boldest, coolest, most surprising score I’ve heard in a very long time

that demi speech was like watching a bunch of kids wobbling around at girl scout ice skating night and then an olympics qualifier casually steps out onto the ice

I'm halfway through Midnight in Chernobyl by Adam Higginbotham and genuinely wondering if this, my first book of 2025, might also end up being the best book I read in 2025. It's setting a high bar, and hopefully setting me up for a great reading year

Mister Rogers never misses

For the last 10 years or so I've tried to start the year off with a classic movie that I've never seen before. This year was The Talk of the Town, a fantastic entry in "should've been a throuple" cinema.

Feel pretty good about all this, now here's to more movies in 2025

Happy New Year from Dorothy Parker (and me).

My resolution this year (and every year) is to be a more available, supportive friend as well as an increasingly looming, formidable enemy.

Perverts, yearners, and sensualists! All that edging is over. The moment has finally arrived. Here is my 40-films deep list of movies that fuck. Argue with your momma. I know I freaked it with this one. letterboxd.com/angelicajade...

The Northman, The VVitch, Nosferatu, The Lighthouse

me facing 2025

Pretty happy with this #LetterboxdFriday

“The impermanence, both on streaming and in theaters, shows how much power consumers have ceded to corporations and their shareholders.” TL;DR — buy discs, they are your last, and only, hope at continued access to the films you love *and* proper presentation www.avclub.com/death-of-dvd...

I try not to let internet dumbfuckery get to me, but I saw a thread with a bunch of Europeans claiming that The Odyssey is not that well-known and Americans need to learn that just because something is studied in American schools it doesn't mean it's studied around the world. THE ODYSSEY

We all have an emotional support dead famous guy and who he is says a lot about you
