The LNP's latest non-plan is nothing more than a re-election tactic and a plan to extend the life of coal and gas on behalf of their large fossil fuel donors. Don't fall for it. #auspol

A picture tells a thousand words! Coalition gives the finger to gender gap on nuclear energy, with four blokes fronting today’s big policy announcement. Diversity you ask? One of the four isn’t from Queensland!

Increasingly “normal” weather forecast! 😢

A view on who to trust in Australia’s #nuclearenergy debate.

CSIRO slaps down major #nuclear talking points promoted by Coalition leader Peter Dutton in its latest GenCost report, which confirms – yet again – that integrated wind and solar are easily the cheapest option

Takes too long, costs too much, time to put nuclear back in its box.

Fantasy vs Facts in the Australian nuclear debate

Grabbed my first opportunity to use new Macquarie Dictionary word of the year “enshittification” in a story. The #nuclearenergy debate will do that!

Definitely overdue, but much needed

The man behind Australia’s net zero plan (or one of the originators at least)

Energy efficiency needs a radical rethink. Making fossil fuel technologies & processes incrementally more efficient is no longer enough. It might even perpetuate their use. In my new article I explore how energy efficiency needs to evolve to remain relevant. medium.com/p/41741abea59b

Sadly, in Australia, for our extraordinary native wildlife, this looks like an unholy union of feral mass killers.

Don’t know about you, but all of these incredible images of our increasingly known universe make me feel very humble; and more concerned than ever about what we insignificant humans are doing to the remarkable home planet we’ve been blessed with by the best luck since the Big Bang.

What was it Paul Keating said? Oh yes, always back the horse called self interest, because at least you know it will be trying!

I was stopped in my morning tracks when Sarah shared this news today. Feels so wrong by Aunty. Such a pro the way she kept going in spite of the emotion in her voice.

Would love to see #COP31 locked in for 2026 hosting by Australia with Pacific nations as an outcome from #COP29 in Azerbaijan. Two years to prepare will allow a high quality and impactful event, as long as Australia doubles down on its #climate targets and ambitions.

Decadal stats for #renewables are a great way to remind ourselves that real progress is happening. And it’s happening despite the ideological and vested interest naysayers still claiming it can’t and won’t happen!

I covered the early heat-driven mass coral bleaching events in the late 1990s, for the Sydney Morning Herald, when engaged scientists warned it would get worse and become common. Sadly, they were right!

Love to see a lot more donors of purple sized dot scale unambiguously backing #climate action and greater #integrity in politics.

Follow the money!

Truth, misinformation and disinformation, and freedom of speech. It’s political quicksand!
