I enjoy writing 8bit tracks partly because it really encourages me to think about implied polyphony and cramming multiple "voices" into a single monophonic instrument.

From now on, I’m going to judge/rank all arias by how much our toddler likes them. Queen of the Night? Great. Che Gelida Manina? Very meh. Sorry Puccini, you lost this one.

Honestly, I don't have a whole lot of use for stuff like this these days... ...but it's just too much fun to mess around with that I end up doing it anyway sometimes.

I'm not as enamoured with Wingspan as many people are, and although it's not super heavy, I think it is more complicated than many people claim. That said, I do still quite enjoy it.

A week from now, the Amabile Choirs of London, Canada will be performing "Tâpwê: Songs of Truth" in #LondonON (also available for live-streaming!).

I can’t overstate how distasteful I find the most recent attack ads from federal conservatives. a) there is no election announced b) Carney isn’t even elected party leader c) conservatives still don’t have a platform! Their entire shtick is just attacks.

I wrote this 8bit track several months ago because I was in a festive mood after celebrating my birthday.

So we found out by chance that our toddler is currently super intrigued by opera right now, and I had a great time this evening listening to parts of Magic Flute and Fledermaus with her.

A joke for all those people who think Wingspan is a light, family-weight game.

In Spring of 2016, "Point of Origin" (for piano quintet) was premiered. This animated score video on YouTube shows this performance alongside the score.

There’s no task so stressful as a giant grant application. And no feeling more calming than hitting “submit” on a giant grant application.

I've been trying to go through some of my favourite video games and choose what I think the "best" track is from the OST, and some of those games have posed a HUGE challenge!

Any answer aside from Lucier's "I am Sitting in a Room" is patently incorrect.

Working outside of the studio today, which means I'm using my wireless headphones for the sake of convenience.

Amid all the current anti-DEI nonsense, it seems all the more important that we'll be performing a program of music by Indigenous composers at Carnegie Hall. A little nerve-wracking, to be honest, but I can't overstate how important it is that this music be shared.

We're listening to Bob Chilcott's arrangement of "MLK" for this week's #throwbackThursday. https://s.mtrbio.com/rtesawtqrl

I know I'm petty, but I'm amazed by how many people are able to look at the word "espresso" and then say a word that includes an X.

I know this is meant as a joke, but... This would probably actually make me go see a James Bond movie.

In case I really needed any more encouragement to drink coffee.

Apologies if I go into full-promo mode a bit for the next week or so. I feel incredibly strongly about the program that we've got scheduled soon and I want to do what I can to ensure that it's well-attended.

For those of you in the #LondonON area, here's a concert to check out for the March 1st/2nd weekend! www.londontourism.ca/events/t%C3%...

If I didn't drink espresso, I wouldn't get to experience the joys of using such tiny little mugs!

Despite being well into my back catalogue of chip tunes at this point, this is probably one of the very first 8bit videos I ever made!

Tickets for the live-stream of this concert are now available! amabilechoirsoflondoncanada.ticketspice.com/tapwe-live-s...

I do love how efficient FamiStudio is for this kind of music. It's definitely a one-trick pony, but... I happen to like that trick.

Turns out that there's some pretty good stuff in there, actually!

The Amabile Festival is almost here and now's the time to get your tickets! Amabile is joined by Andrew Balfour, Sheryll Sewepagaham, Beverly McKiver, Hussein Janmohammed, and the Oneida Smoke Dancers for this landmark musical event! Amabile.ca/tickets www.youtube.com/shorts/X1CyO...

I admit that there are far more important things to draw from this unhinged post but... It also clearly demonstrates that he doesn't understand how to use punctuation.

We're currently trying to organize/set up this up as a virtual concert as well, if anyone outside of the London area happens to be interested. www.youtube.com/shorts/X1CyO...
