17.5 MILLION Hiroshima bombs worth of heat accumulated in the Mediterranean Sea from 2023 to 2024. Sea Surface Temperatures increased more in the past 15 years than over the preceding 150 years. On May 1st, 2025, sulphur emissions from shipping will decrease again by about 80%

In case you were wondering, the 2-year running mean for the global surface temperature anomaly is currently at 1.57°C above the 1850-1900 IPCC pre-industrial baseline.

Using data through Feb. 23, 2025 and assuming warming is accelerating, the planet is now set to cross the 1.5°C line in mid-2026.

Miltä nyt näyttää. Henkilökohtainen arvio. 1. Tilanne on nyt erityisesti Baltian maiden ml. Suomen osalta poikkeuksellisen vaarallinen. Sota nyt lähempänä kuin ehkä kertaakaan sitten vuoden 1983. 2. Syynä ennen kaikkea Trumpin kääntyminen Kremlin puoleen. USA ei ole enää Venäjän pidäke.

A quick reminder that we are witnessing the beginning of simultaneous cascading global catastrophes. It's a good day for a long walk.

And that's right -- the annualized mean growth rate for CO2 is now at a record high 3.55 ppm as of January, 2025. Atmospheric CO2 is growing at the fastest rate in recorded history. This is not going to end well for global industrial civilization, children and other living things.

Your 'moment of doom' for Feb. 5, 2024 ~ Going dark. “I think the strategy here is: ‘Well, we’re just going to do it and dare somebody to stop us, and by the time they stop us, we’ll have destroyed it.’” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

The protests have started in the USA, a massive gathering outside USAID offices after Elon Musk illegally shutdown USAID. Impeach Donald Trump.

🛰️🌍@NASA CERES update The most important data in the world! A 2.0 W/m² increase of the (four-year average) Absorbed Solar Radiation over the Northern Hemisphere in 20 years! Net-flux increased by about 1.2 W/m², which means there is a lot more warming in the pipeline.

First 28 days of 2025 were 1.75°C above pre-industrial! Even with La Niña cooling the planet down somewhat, this will be the hottest January in history. The Global warming rate might have more than doubled!

Short presentation (< 15mins) on just how vanishingly small are our remaining carbon budgets for 1.5 & 2°C - both globally & when downscaled to wealthy industrialised nations. In a handful of years our Paris 2°C commitment will go the way same way as has 1.5°C. climateuncensored.com/irelands-cli...

We missed a milestone. On January 15th, the 2-year running mean for the global surface temerpature anomaly reached 1.55°C above the 1850-1900 baseline. Goodbye Paris, we hardly knew ye.

The Extreme Weather Report, January 23, 2025: This is your weather on fossil fuels.

As expected, it's now almost certain that January 2025 will be record warm! And that's with La Niña cooling things down.. Global warming has accelerated!

Global warming has accelerated, a lot! The first 19 days of 2025 were on average +1.74°C above pre-industrial. That's about 0.1°C warmer than the same period last year. Then we had an El Niño, now a La Niña.

Daily global surface temperature updates were delayed a few days. They were finally posted this morning. And the records keep on falling. So glad El Nino is over and La Nina is helping cool things down ...

In case you had any doubt, the near perfect fit of the quadratic trendline makes it clear: global sea surface temperatures are accelerating. The current rate of warming is about 0.32°C/decade, which comes out to somewhere around 275 million Hiroshima bombs worth of ocean heating in 2025.

The reasons we haven't addressed climate change is incompetent and corrupt politicians who serve the interests of fossil fuel industry. "Cabinet of horrors:...perhaps a pinch of more fascism", 2025 61cm x 50cm Oil on canvas #cabinetofhorrors #fascism #corruption #climatechange #fossilfuelindustry

Your 'moment of doom' for Jan. 16, 2025 ~ Don't ask twice. "At 3C or more of heating by 2050, there could be more than 4 billion deaths, significant sociopolitical fragmentation worldwide, failure of states (with resulting rapid, enduring, and significant loss of capital), and extinction events."

📈 In 2024, greenhouse gases reached their highest annual levels ever recorded in the atmosphere. 🌁 Carbon dioxide concentrations reached 422 ppm, 2.9 ppm higher than in 2023, & methane 1897 ppb, 3 ppb higher. ▶️ All details, charts and data in the #GCH2024 report: bit.ly/40kQpcz

Breaking News! Code UFB!!! The global surface temperature anomaly has now been released for last year. According to Copernicus, 2024 was 1.60°C above the 1850-1900 IPCC baseline! climate.copernicus.eu/copernicus-2...

Last year was likely the hottest year in the last 120,000+ years on this planet. Human civilization has never existed in conditions like these, and the f&%kery is just getting started. The tragedy is not the loss of human civilization, it's what humans are doing to everything else.

Your 'moment of doom' for Jan. 8, 2025 ~ How do you spell f&%ked? "The six biggest banks in the US have all quit the global banking industry’s net zero target-setting group, with the imminent inauguration of Donald Trump as president expected to bring political backlash against climate action."

Lahja-artikkeli: 1/3

Here is the 36-month running mean for CO2 growth. 1) Compute the running mean level of atmospheric CO2 over 36-months. 2) For any given date's 36-month running mean of CO2, subtract the running mean from 36 months earlier and plot that point. 3) Freak out that CO2 growth is increasing again!

The final ERA5 temperature data are now in. 2024 was the warmest year on record. Thanks humans! 🔥

The latest data from Copernicus puts the planet more than 1.82°C above the pre-industrial average on December 26th, second only to 2023 at 1.91°C. Meanwhile, Arctic sea-ice extent continues to be at a record daily low, and North Atlantic sea surface temperatures continue on at a record daily high.

Looking forward to this. We have a lot to cover. Please tune in tomorrow at 19:00 (7 pm), Central European Time: www.youtube.com/live/ii6vz1m...

My favoured Trend line for Global warming moves way more than I expected GMST Anomaly data is noisy. The loess-30-yr trend line shifts as the latest data is added E.g In hindsight we might see that we crossed 1.5C years earlier than initially thought. Look at 1.25C moving from Dec 2022 to Jul 2020

Keep holding on to your hats! As we'll likely soon find out what ΔT +1.5°C months during a La Niña feel like.

This graphic gives the 12-month running average for Mauna Loa CO₂ since 1959, with a quadratic trendline (in red). An R² of 0.9995 is overwhelming evidence that atmospheric CO₂ growth is accelerating. And at present, CO₂ is above the trendline! The climate 8-ball says: "Outlook f&%ked, try again."

Using Copernicus data from Jan. 1, 1980 through Nov. 30, 2024, here is an updated forecast graph for the global surface temperature anomaly, assuming accelerating warming. This forecast shows us currently at 1.46°C, breaking 1.5°C in late 2025, breaking 2.0°C in 2036 and reaching 2.2°C by 2040.

More than 90% of fossil fuel emissions occurred since my parents were born. Over 80% since I was born. Over 30% since my children were born. And well over 50% since the world agreed at the Rio Earth Summit to prevent dangerous climate change. And I thought: „At last!“

Breaking News! Code Yikes! In addition to record low Arctic sea-ice extent (which is now 350,000 km² below the previous daily record), as of the latest data (December 11th), global mean surface temperatures are once again at a record high for the day, at 1.68°C above the pre-industrial average.

The simultaneous collapse of environmental and political systems (the latter are failing both to prevent catastrophic climate change and also to halt a widespread drift of democratic governments toward authoritarianism) will be immensely consequential.

Breaking news! Code UFB!!! On December 10, Arctic sea-ice extent hit a new modern daily low, beating the previous record daily low set in 2016 by over 155,000 square kilometers. No ice for you!
