Wrote a draft of a little poem yesterday. Today, instead of forcing myself to grade more than what I had planned, I wrote quite a bit of what will be on the next Widely Read update (widely-read.ghost.io). Feels nice to claim my time for things that help me feel more human.

Not gonna lie, I only want to read and play video games today. Grading isn't the energy I want to bring into today but I don't have a choice. I must grade. Though I'd prefer to be reading. Or pretending to be Batman.

I dont like the word skills to describe how learning recreates new pathways in your brain and makes your soul heavier, harder to remove and how it opens your heart to the possibility of human connections. Skills just isnt the word.

Some of the water by me has this new earthy taste and smell to it and while Im not a fan I keep switching between "this is nature healing" and "this is nature rightfully trying to off us".

We had my dads memorial at a restaurant that he would have eaten nothing at. Every single person said something about it. It was stunningly wonderful. #deathsky

supporting your public library is so sexy

Damn. Might have to go with a sad boba. Was really pulling for this one.

Put on my little Avatar pomodoro air temple sounds, getting cozy in my chair, thinking about how people need to make sure they're having conversations about resistance in safe spaces that aren't social media, drinking my lil coffee, gonna grade some essays. Good morning Monday.

Sharing because I love Stewart. Also because this hashtag is correct almost always no matter who writes Hal.

Commenting on assignments for my Craft course has me buzzing with love and attention and excitement. I love reading and going on a journey with my Rhet students but this is a different high. A different drug. They bring me so much joy and hope.

Just got through updating my poetry submissions (Submittable isn't sending me rejections? Is this happening for others? Like even their system says they didn't send me something) and manuscript submissions. Ooof. When this book gets picked up I'm gonna do the math and hate the numbers aren't I?

Yyyyyeeeesssssss

This looks amazing and like such a wonderful project. Also: Im pronouncing the Esperanto word used here for Paladin "Peach-er-oooo" in my head and thinking about multiple Paladins Ive played who I now wish I named Peacharoo.

I truly think people don’t realize how many universities and colleges — especially public ones — may shut down if restrictions on and withholding of federal funding persists for even one presidency We are facing the demolition of American higher education

Just finished watching The Drumhead episode of Star Trek: TNG and oooooooo boy does it have its finger on the pulse of the past 15 to 20 yrs in Amercia.

Heyo! I have another review over at the Comics Beat. This book was such a pleasure to read and review and I really, truly hope you like it. Thanks again @zackquaintance.bsky.social for believing in the reviews and the writing.

Damn..........I'm gonna have to add this to the pull list. I'm extremely interested in how this Silver Surfer will play out. What a character to get to tackle especially during this specifically political moment and this time. Ooooo baby.

I've had some poems and fiction held at journals/magazines for longer than usual and it's starting to give me that "maybe?" hope that is so wonderful but also so much like, "omg. How disappointed will I be with the rejection?" Will I be buying a celebratory boba or a depressed one?

Ok, I'm doing a version of this thread for 🧪 who are new to political conditions where info security is a safety issue: 1. Don't make public lists of people who are engaging in acts of resistance 2. Be weary of calls to advertise acts of subversion 3. Don't live post resistance meetings

This is the best news my kid has received in 5 years.

I've been thinking about this a lot too. He can afford to take a progressive stance because he has billions. But he is taking a progressive stance while other billionaires are lining up to lick the boot of fascism. So, that makes me drawn to him more. That being said, no more billionaires please.

I blinked for a solid minute before I understood this was a joke which just tells you how deep into the teaching I am right now. Also, I like Silo.

I dont know enough specifics to agree or disagree here but this feels right. And i liked it a lot. I also feel like the Socialist Party was making some solid strides last year and had excellent canidates overall. So I feel like maybe there are legit 3rd parties that can make a difference.

Mario Bros and Death to Smoochie (in original post) are stunning movies. Like how did either get made? Magic. Art. Probably drugs.

Oh this is my jam tonight. 2 and a half minute version here: youtu.be/PuWVgVkMiHE?...

GenAI doesn't teach anyone anything...

Any Americans who haven’t read @kellysue.bsky.social and @vdelandro.bsky.social’s BITCH PLANET should probably do so before they can’t any more.

No joke, if you use this and this happens you should be disbarred. Immediately. This should be a career ending move for a lawyer.

Transferring poems from my notebook to the computer and thinking a lot about what I see as poetic, what I notice, how I'm seeing it, how I process it, and why I keep feeling pressure to push it towards a lyric mysteriousness that sometimes isn't my jam. Poets Doing Poet Stuff basically.

Late night poemed. Then read a bunch of posts and spiraled into doom. Then remembered i late night poemed.

A few drone shots. Look, I know I’m blowing up your feeds, but the big press places aren’t paying attention. So make noise. Rattle the cages. The more people who know what is going on the bigger the response has to be. The more people watching means folks are more likely to get help.

I just picked up We the Parasites by @saintsoftness.bsky.social and I started breathing heavy like my brain couldnt get enough oxygen to continue. I havent been this excited to start a book in a long ass time. I also have a feeling I will be saying wonderful things about this book over and over.

Saying you're a writer who doesn't read in THIS economy? Absolutely wild. Live your truth, I guess. It doesn't make any sense but sometimes I feed myself by just making food and not actually eating it. It totally works and isn't a waste at all.

For the Saturday morning crowd!

For the Saturday morning crowd!

Because I've been so swamped with life and work and *waves hands wildly*, I forgot to share this review that went live last week @comicsbeat.bsky.social!!! I'd love it if you read about this subversive, gorgeous book. www.comicsbeat.com/graphic-nove...
