Sunrise from Mare Crissium, Moon by @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social 2025-03-03. What an amazing view! flic.kr/p/2qPRVY9

My fellow teachers know the job can sometimes leave you wondering if you are having any impact, or making any difference in the lives of our students. We don’t often hear back after they leave our classroom. But every once in a while you get a reminder that keeps you in the game…

Stuck the landing! @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social Blue Ghost lunar lander Mission 1 at Mare Crissium (2:34 CST 2025-03-02) to do some science! Congratulations to all the Fireflies.

Blue Ghost has landed, intact, upright, in 1 piece and is sending back beautiful photos of the lunar landscape! Now the real work begins. We have 2 weeks (1 lunar day) to collect #scientific data for our payloads! 🧪

The #Moon is so beautiful. Yes it appears monochrome, but the bright white ejecta and the pitch black of shadowed regions create a diverse landscape. I love how we are finally able to make out smaller craters that were not visible and higher altitudes. 🧪 Only a few days until Blue Ghost lands!

EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS PHOTO This *gorgeous* view of the Moon was taken by the @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social Blue Ghost lander from an altitude of 100 km above the lunar farside on Monday. Blue Ghost is aiming for a landing on the Moon on Sunday.

Maybe you’ll get it if Rachel says it.

Cancelling @joyannreid.bsky.social means the door she held open for the next generation of Black voices will slam shut. Without her, the next her, won't get platformed by white media. That, of course, is why white media pushed her out. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/soci...

@joyannreid.bsky.social grace, brilliance, and dignity. Thank you for all you’ve done.

We live in an age when commercial spacecraft are flying around the Moon and we're getting views of our homeworld like this one. Simply incredible. View from Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander, scheduled to touch down Sunday in Mare Crisium on the Moon! Credit: @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social

@curtis.bsky.social would you or any of your colleagues be interested is having a video chat with 4th graders?

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

Knowing number order and magnitude, and how numbers relate to each other, is as vital as phonics is to reading, experts say. But many students, especially low-income students, lack strong number sense, and it hobbles their math capabilities later on. hechingerreport.org/the-building...

NEW: Vera Rubin was a pioneering female astronomer. The federal webpage for an observatory named for her now excludes mention of efforts to diversify science. “I’m sure Vera would be absolutely furious,” said a co-author of a biography of Rubin. By @lisalsong.bsky.social

Go outside and look up 18:30-20:30 local times - take in the view of 4 planets! Starting high in east, bright orange Mars, continue south, very high, bright, yellow-white Jupiter… on to the southwest very bright white Venus and a bit lower and west the dimmer and yellow Saturn.
