The Atlantic writer Anne Applebaum says President Trump's dismantling of the U.S. civil service system, and his attacks on judges and his opponents, are part of a playbook on undermining democracy. 🎧 tinyurl.com/3w32xujf

@booker.senate.gov hey, thanks for fitting in some time to cheer while you’re shirking your responsibilities to the American people and not upholding your oath to the constitution.

@chriswarcraft.bsky.social is my favorite new BlueSky follow (sorry man, didn’t know about you before your action because I don’t watch football 😅 but I’m sure you’re great out there too!)

I 💗 NPR so no shade, but I am glad that the media has *finally* 👏👏👏👏 picked up what we’ve been laying down for at least a week (?? Hell if I know - all I know is that it feels like day #9999 of this regime but it’s only actually like day 29 or something) www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

Elon Musk claims DOGE has saved $55 billion, but the numbers don’t add up. DOGE released a list of canceled contracts totaling $16 billion in supposed savings. However, nearly half of that came from an $8 billion ICE contract—except that contract was actually worth just $8 million.

FEMA I have never needed you but I’m glad you’re there and thank you for taking care of my neighbors when they needed it.

This.

The UK has a shadow cabinet - political positions within the party that isn’t in power - and so should we. Plus, we need weekly press briefings led by @petebuttigieg.bsky.social on the state of the union. Business-as-usual time is over.

This is so disturbing and my heart continually breaks.

I love it when an org sends out their “thanks but no thanks” emails re: conference/journal proposals at 7am on a Monday. Just really sets a nice tone for the week. What else will we be rejected from this week? 😂

Looking forward to another season in the park. Most of the equipment is showing a lot of wear, the old camera is on its last legs. We're carrying a some debt into this season. We could really use some help if you can manage it. Please donate today. Thank you thank you thank you gofund.me/babd9034

"When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something about it." - John Lewis. It's not enough to simply recognize something is wrong; we have a moral duty to act.

It's not just government employees. Universities and private research labs are reeling from the effects of grant freezes and uncertainty in the flow of science funding. It could take decades to get back to where we were with the states of science.

It eliminates prior developed protective immunity towards other infections. It causes immune suppression. Lands huge fractions in hospitals.”

ATTN FEDERAL WORKERS: I’ll say this again: download all your SF-50s, performance evals, and your eOPF. Now. Print hard copies. And make sure you file an informal grievance with your supervisor within 15 days of any adverse action. Here is a template: www.muellershewrote.com/p/informal-g...

This is all a good reminder that, “no help, no votes until the criminal conduct stops” is neither a big ask nor a politically perilous one.

We are calling for a nationwide and international boycott of all Elon Musk-related products and services. Sell your Tesla shares, avoid buying Tesla vehicles, cancel Starlink, and delete your X accounts.

every day I think about the comms strategy of the korean opposition party in the wake of the coup and I get so burningly resentful that other countries have legislators who are awake

I never forget that we’re in a constitutional crisis/coup and that Elon Musk and Trump are the cause of it. In the face of Congressional cowardice, going to start working the Tesla angle hard.

Tesla's stock is ridiculously overvalued, and even a modest consumer boycott could tank the company, which accounts for the majority of Elon Musk's wealth. The divestment movement weakened apartheid South Africa. Let's do that again. slate.com/business/202...

I know there is some anxiety around how to protect yourself in light of Muskrat and his herd of shitler youth getting their hands on all our personal information so here are the steps you can take to protect yourself. I’ve seen these in various threads but thought it worth putting them together🧵 1/?

She is a martyr. Rest easy, Elisa, and I am so sorry. You deserved far more. I resist in your name.

A quick search of Cotton’s accounts show that the first time he posted a single word critical of USAID was 5 days ago, despite serving in the Senate for 10 years and the House before that.

So how are all of us doing at playing the role of “everything is normal, everything is fine” while the government falls to pieces?

I didn't watch but it is my understanding that Drake lost the Super Bowl

The ASL version of “Not Like Us” is magnificent.

Congratulations to Super Bowl LIX champion Kendrick Lamar

BREAKING: We submitted FOIA requests to more than 40 federal agencies demanding answers about the so-called Department of Government Efficiency's unrestricted access to Americans' data. We're also calling on Congress to conduct immediate oversight of DOGE's invasion of privacy.

FYI all of the viral images government spending that “DOGE HAS UNCOVERED” is actually from www.usaspending.gov a website that Obama signed into law in 2014 that has always been accessible to the public.
