Harold Hill is a salesman. His trick is that he sells the instruments (which are actually ordered) with the promise that he will stay and teach the kids how to Play them (which he cannot and will not do.) He lies to make the sale. I’m not sure either Scott or Paul really understand it.

Is today your birthday? Literally “It’s my birthday too, yeah.” And for everyone else whose birthday is today or near - don’t let anyone give you combination gifts. You deserve a separate birthday present. They don’t pull that on people born Feb-Nov.

Hey, Alex, since I’m trying to minimize my Twitter use, I won’t be DM’ing you for the holidays and new years like I usually do, since I can only DM followers. Still, hope you have a great year, and here’s Midnight sullenly wearing a holiday bow.

Let it be said that I am officially absolving you, Paul F. Tompkins, of all blame, both for this and any and all past misdeeds.

Just showed it to my kids this weekend. You know that feeling when you can tell something isn’t landing like you hoped it would..?

But nothing in Las Vegas, an area of about two million people. I can’t blame you, though; almost none of the bands or comedians that I like ever make it here…

Cool glasses; almost but not quite circles.

What bothered me is that neither Scott, nor Paul seemed to understand that Harold Hill was a salesman. He actually was selling the instruments. The con was just that he wasn’t sticking around to run the band and teach but he said he would. That said, I loved all the Music Man talk.
