Ope! I like reading, knitting, traveling and some other things, too. I’m also a librarian, but opinions are my own. (she/her) https://youtu.be/EB0x4ui5ANw?t=05s

I had only been in Christchurch for about seven hours this afternoon before a man stopped me to say, “Maybe you can help me: I’m looking for this cafe…” and I had to tell him it was my very first day in the country. Librarian face is real.

I’ve been traveling for over 12 hours and I’m not even halfway done. Plus there was a lone bird stuck in the Dulles terminal, and I’m still sad thinking about it.

#ShowMeYourKnits this week is your current WIP, so here is the Flax pullover I’m making for my partner after years of asking if I can make him a sweater. The cloudlike (but sadly discontinued) Cewec Tibet yarn’s softness is what finally convinced him. It’s a wool/yak/nylon blend that is delicious.

Over the course of the past week, I have helped the same lady twice with computer stuff at the library. Throughout each session, she kept calling me Boo Boo, as in “Thank you, Boo Boo.” And honest to god, it made me feel so great.

Two snow days in a row!

A year ago today is when I made the decision to stop contact with my mom. It is a unique grief, one that has not gotten easier.

Oh hell yeah.

Wait. Rilo Kiley is back together?!

I figure I may as well eat something delicious while the republic burns, so I’m making the sesame cake from one of my favorite easy cookbooks. Checked out from the library, of course.

A kindness: I saw a mom and two young Girl Scouts in vests at their car in a parking lot while running errands today. I asked if they were selling cookies, but they said not at that time and then the mom gave me a free box from her trunk anyway.

I’m listening to this audiobook and enjoying it, but it was billed as Fantasy (and Romantasy). Reader, I am almost 85% of the way through and there has not been a single fantastical element whatsoever.

While it is on my mind, I want to take a moment to tell you about how I keep track of projects. rowcounterapp.com I discovered this many moons ago bc I kept losing my row counters. Didn't matter if it were a digital finger one or one you attach to your knitting needle. I didn't lose my phone.*

The library’s 82 year old secretary is NOT happy about this Jimmy Butler trade.

Yesterday I had to renew my plates & every year I think it’s the year to get personalized ones. I play around for a while with combos but ultimately decide that I want my car to be less notable & get my existing plate instead. All of this to say, no one in VA has claimed NSYNC if you want it.

Oh god. Between this and the (lack of) air traffic control situation around SFO, should I be canceling my international trip that connects through SFO in two weeks? 😩😩😩

Using my lunch break to call my Republican Congressman to ask what he’s doing to protect us constituents and our financial privacy/security amid the largest unauthorized federal data heist this country has ever seen! Eagerly awaiting a callback.

Send this video to your representatives via email and tell them to repeat these words over and over again everywhere.

My reps will know and fear my name. Every time another message from me arrives, I want all of them -- even the ones I like -- to cry out, "Oh god, it's her again!" as they rend their clothes in despair.

But it turns out that his office accepts faxes! I just used FaxZero to share my thoughts on this mess. Five free 3-page faxes each day: faxzero.com

Freakin Tim Kaine doesn’t have a freakin voicemail option. WHY DON’T YOU WANT TO HEAR FROM YOUR CONSTITUENTS, TIM?

so he’s purging the FBI, he dumped out all of california’s water, elon musk logged into the government’s money computer, and the trade war officially starts tomorrow? is that all i missed today?

"...we as librarians are going to have to learn generative AI and gain that kind of practical expertise so that we can think about ethical ways to integrate it into our work..." Yeah, but there isn't a way to do that. www.libraryjournal.com/story/librar...

Just always thinking about the time a dude at a library conference told my sister and me that we looked similar and asked us if we were neighbors.

Everyone who says they just loooove libraries so much lately, prove it. Contact your reps asap.

we have a president with a tenuous grip on small legislative majorities who is out of the gate with a flurry of dramatically unpopular orders and who has just demonstrated his weakness on the international stage. if i were an elected member of his domestic opposition, i might try to draw real blood.
