I cannot say this strongly enough -- If you are a member of the DC Bar, VOTE NOW for Diane Seltzer for president.

This is the act an authoritarian regime, not one interested in the rule of law.

Moral cowardice

The amount of energy people at universities are spending trying to deal with this administration is just huge - and not just Harvard, everywhere. Imagine all the things we could be doing instead. This is part of their strategy of course.

Measles outbreak now at 800, but this outbreak is just getting started --> CDC: vax rate among kindergarteners is now below the 95% coverage target—much lower in some communities—and is decreasing --> Map of vax coverage (orange is where vax rate is under the target 95%)

So the White House story is now: “We didn’t mean to threaten Harvard, because we didn’t mean to send the threatening letter we sent, but when Harvard rejected the threats we made but didn’t mean to make, we decided to threaten them twice more.” The country is now run by thugs and idiots.

It’s a stiff competition for most dangerous Cabinet member, but RFK is right up there. Every senator who voted to confirm him will have blood on their hands.

RFK Jr. says there are no autistic poets, so we interviewed one. Hear from Elizabeth McClellan, @popelizbet.bsky.social, an award-winning poet, attorney, and legal educator based in Memphis, Tennessee.

This is terrifying and if you think they’re only going to use this against “illegal immigrants” boy do I have news for you

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

The Trump administration has dug up a number of things on Mr. Abrego Garcia that can paint him in a bad light—the domestic violence one being the most concrete. But none of that matters. It's all post-hoc justification. They didn't know about them at the time. They're trying to hide what they did.

To state the obvious: DOGE is still out there, chipping away at the foundations of government infrastructure. Slightly less obvious, maybe, is that the DOGE project has recently entered a new phase: It’s all about the data.

DON’T LOOK AWAY! The Trump administration is catapulting us into a data black hole and the consequences could be massive. Halting data collection on drug use, maternal mortality, climate change, more, by @alecmac.bsky.social

Ok so yeah, this has quickly become the #1 misunderstanding about the canceled grants the grants are not “subsidies” or “entitlements” to Harvard or Princeton or whatever they aren’t going into universities’ endowments they are competitive contracts won by these universities to do research

Trump's first term included two economic masterstrokes -- warp speeding the vaccine, and appointing the Fed Chair who engineered a soft-landing -- and oddly enough, he disavows both of them.

BREAKING: Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez has been released. This is the moment he reunited with his mom.

Practical implications: bifurcation of food supply into high and low quality food brands, where the high maintain their own quality checks (hopefully with publicly posted records) and the low just don’t bother. This is how things work in developing countries.

How is it possible U.S. citizens are being held as illegal aliens in America even after they produce their birth certificate? This is intolerable. www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/...

the country is being run entirely by the dumbest and most arrogant white guy in all your college classes

Meat isn't the *only* thing that could sicken you in an FDA inspection-free America. But you might really want to reconsider eating meat. Especially ground meat. And runny eggs.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

He’s never stepping down, you know.

If you’re terrified of the leaders of your political party, you’re in the wrong party.

Exactly

It’s astounding (and terrifying!) how scared most GOP officials are of their OWN VOTERS/SUPPORTERS. The lack of moral courage right now is heartbreaking. Maybe you don’t owe loyalty to people who want you dead?

It’s not a democracy when members of Congress are afraid to speak freely.

“We are all afraid,” Murkowski said... “It’s quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. And I’ll tell ya, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not right.” www.adn.com/politics/202...

As a historian of eugenics, I can tell you that the "taxes" thing is straight up from sterilization eugenics. Not only that, it represents an even more extreme form of early 20thC. eugenics that I study: euthanasia eugenics. They are tax burdens therefore they shouldn't exist. 1/2

Not the headline I want to post. But for everyone trying to understand what’s happening at UMass Chan, why things are so difficult, this is what’s happening. We are a service institution. We educate; we care; we give; we serve rural MA. We dont make money. Our own govt is crushing us. Link below

Marco Rubio: censorship of Americans ends today Brendan Carr: report what we tell you or we’ll pull your license

@timmiller.bsky.social and jumped on camera last night to run through some of the best clips of Republicans saying that going after organizations’ tax status because of politics was the end of democracy. Which is exactly what they’re currently doing to Harvard…

‘“We experienced what amounts to censorship and controlling of the reporting of our science,” Dr. Hall said, adding that he was worried that if he stayed, officials might also interfere with the design and execution of his studies.’

I look at close to 100 stories a week and even more outside of work. I’ve done this ten years. This is among the most horrific things I’ve ever read — testimony from dying children whose access to medicine has been cut off by the Trump administration. www.npr.org/sections/goa...

Trump wants to eliminate a program that educates poor children b/c the “federal government should not be in the business of mandating curriculum for any form of education.” Except for Harvard. The incoherence of their attack on education is almost impressive it’s so dumb.

A willing fascist threatening to prosecute regime opponents. Right out of the textbooks.

Hi, I’m autistic and I’m the mayor of my city.

Time to call Congress again and tell them to send this budget proposal back to the kleptocratic hell that it came from
