My parents seem to trust our system of checks and balances to stop Trump going to full dictator. I think they’re dangerously naive.

Last year, I took in two older cats that my parents no longer wanted. One of them, Misty, no longer grooms herself so is matted all over. Her immune system attacked her teeth so she’s missing most now. She pees and poops outside the litter box several times per week. I don’t know what to do.

I called my reps again today. This time spoke to someone on the phone. I’m going to step up my game to try and get @daveminca.bsky.social and @schiff.senate.gov and @padilla.senate.gov to come out and start building resistance here in California. I will not let up.

I want conservatives to fight with us over government funding and austerity, not burning everything down and taking people’s rights. Conservatives trying to prevent excessive spending are fine and necessary for a healthy democracy. Fascists are not. Liars about reducing spending are not.

I wonder whether Trump will hurt relations with Europe so much that they make Americans get a visa to travel to the Schengen zone. It would be a way punish Americans for Trump. I doubt it’d sway people away from Trump though.
