Ah yes it is the season to remind people that syncretism exists and that people don't drop their whole culture when they adopt a new religion because that's a very fundamentalist idea of religion and conversion that wasn't common until fairly recently

Hot take but switching religious groups does not automatically equal deconstruction. Many people change rituals but not how they approach spirituality and/or deities. There's a fundamentalist flavour available of every belief system.

Not to be controversial, but labelling the Bible with verses is one of the worst things that ever happened to it. It's a bit harder to take things out of context if you have to point to a whole book or chapter.

One of the great temptations among Anglicans is a tendency to see ourselves as exempt from the issues in the wider Christian community. A little humility and accountability wouldn't be amiss. People don't care if you're not "that" kind of Christian. That means nothing to someone who was hurt. 🕯️
